ATP US Open 1/32-Finals
Kokkinakis – Borges: 29.08.2024 Time TBA
H2H: 0-1
Thanasi Kokkinakis has won four of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Montreal, Kokkinakis reached the second round as a qualifier. He lost against Hurkacz in three tight sets. It was a solid tournament preparation for the Aussie. Yesterday, Thanasi upset Tsitsipas in the first round as we predicted. The Aussie got the job done in four sets, and showed great tennis. Kokkinakis is looking for a solid result here in New York to cement his top 100 status. Last year at the US Open, Kokkinakis was upset by Hsu in the first round.
Nuno Borges has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Winston-Salem, Borges lost his first round match against Seyboth Wild in straight sets. Here in New York, Nuno dominated against Coria from the very start, and won in straight sets. Borges lost his serve twice, but both times broke back right away. Nuno is looking for a solid result here to get in his top 30 spots. Last year at the US Open, Borges lost in the first round against Ofner in four tight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, this should be almost an 50-50 match. Thanasi had an incredible first round performance against Tsitsipas. He loves to play on the biggest stage, such as this one. On the other hand, Borges never had any success at the Grand Slam level, and usually fumbles under pressure.
That being said, Kokkinakis winning is a value bet.

Marozsan – Medvedev: 29.08.2024 Time TBA
H2H: first meeting
Fabian Marozsan has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Winston-Salem, Marozsan lost his first round match against Tien in three tight sets. Yesterday, Fabian won his opening match against Medjedovic in five tight sets. It was a roller-coaster match, with both players being inconsistent. Marozsan fought back after he was 1-2 down. Last year in New York, Marozsan lost in the second round against Mannarino in four sets.
Daniil Medvedev has lost three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Cincinnati, Daniil lost his opening match against Lehecka in straight sets. A week before that, Medvedev lost his first round match in Montreal as well. Yesterday, Medvedev won his opening match against Lajovic in four sets. Daniil loves to play in New York. He won his only Grand Slam title here in 2021. He was also runner-up twice, once in 2019, and the second time last year, when he lost against Novak Djokovic.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Medvedev is the favorite in this matchup. He had a slow start yesterday against Lajovic. However, once he stepped up his game, Medvedev dominated in the third and fourth sets. Marozsan struggled in the opening round against Medjedovic. We believe that Medvedev is overall a way better hard court player and more experienced player than Marozsan, so we believe that he will win comfortably tomorrow.
That being said, Medvedev winning in straight sets is a value bet.
