ATP US Open 1/32-Finals
Berrettini – Fritz: 28.08.2024 Time TBA
H2H: 0-3
Matteo Berrettini has won four of his last five matches. Since winning the title in Kitzbuhel, Matteo has played only two matches. Two weeks ago in Cincinnati, Berrettini lost in the opening round against Rune in three tight sets. Yesterday in the first round, Berrettini defeated Ramos-Vinolas in straight sets. Here in New York, Matteo reached the quarterfinals or better three times, and usually performs well. Last year at the US Open, Berrettini retired mid-match against Rinderknech in the second round of the tournament.
Taylor Fritz has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Cincinnati, Taylor lost his first round match against Nakashima as we predicted. Besides winning the title in Delray Beach earlier this season, Fritz did not have any remarkable results on the hard courts. Yesterday in the first round, Fritz defeated Ugo Carabelli in easy straight sets as we predicted. Last year in New York, Taylor reached the quarterfinals, where he lost against Djokovic in straight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Fritz is the slight favorite in this matchup. Taylor has been struggling with his form lately. On the other hand, Berrettini did not play much, but when he played, he performed well. We expect this match to be very tight.
That being said, Berrettini covering the games handicap is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: Matteo Berrettini +2.5 games handicap @1.91 @bet365
Carballes Baena – Shang: 28.08.2024 Time TBA
H2H: 0-1
Roberto Carballes Baena has lost three of his last five matches. Before the US Open, Roberto had played two preparation tournaments, and failed in the opening rounds in both of them. Here in New York, Baena defeated Choinski in the first round in five tough sets. Carballes spent almost five hours on the court. Last year in New York, Roberto lost in the second round against Karatsev.
Juncheng Shang has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Winston-Salem, Shang withdrew from his 1/8-Final match against Sonego. Before that in Washington, Shang retired mid-match against Rinderknech after he was 3-2 up. Here in New York, Shang defeated Bublik in a five-set thriller. Juncheng was 1-2 down, but managed to stay calm and turn the match around. So far this season, Shang has not had any remarkable results, but stayed consistent throughout the whole season, which led to him being part of the top 100 in the rankings.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Baena is the big underdog in this matchup. Both players have spent a lot of time on the court in their first round matches. We believe that this match will be one-sided. Shang is a way better hard court player than Baena, so we believe that he will dominate from the very start.
That being said, Shang covering the games handicap is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: Juncheng Shang -4.5 games handicap @1.80 @bet365
