ATP US Open 1/64-Finals
Sonego – Paul: 28.08.2024 02:30 CEST
H2H: 1-2
Lorenzo Sonego has won five straight matches. Last week in Winston-Salem, Sonego won the title without losing a single set. The Italian played great tennis throughout the whole tournament. We have to mention that it was a favorable draw for him, but Lorenzo still showed great tennis. This season was not his best one, leading to him dropping out of the top 50. However, after the last week, Sonego won his first title of the season and got back into the top 50. Last year in New York, Sonego lost in the second round against Sinner in straight sets.
Tommy Paul has lost three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Cincinnati, Tommy lost his opening match against Cobolli in three tight sets. A week before that, Paul lost his second round match in Montreal against Nakashima. Those two preparation tournaments did not go well for him. The Americans are expecting a lot from him, especially because he will have the help of the home crowd. Last year in New York, Tommy reached the 1/8-Finals where he lost against his fellow American, Ben Shelton, in four sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Tommy is the big favorite in this matchup. Lorenzo is coming into this match with a lot of confidence. He showed great tennis last week, so we believe that he will have a decent chance against the out-of-form Tommy Paul.
That being said, Sonego covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Alcaraz – Tu: 28.08.2024 01:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting
Carlos Alcaraz has won three of his last five matches. After losing a tight match against Novak Djokovic in the final of the Olympic Games, Carlos took some time off. He played only one preparation tournament two weeks ago in Cincinnati. He was upset there by Monfils in his opening match. Alcaraz mentioned that it was one of his worst matches of his career. He was visibly emotional on the court. A couple of days ago, Carlos twisted his ankle in a practice session. We are still not sure if he will be 100% fit on the court tonight. Last year at the US Open, Medvedev upset Alcaraz in the semifinals.
Li Tu has won four of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Lincoln, Tu reached the quarterfinals at the challenger tour level. Here in New York, Tu successfully qualified for the main-draw tournament. Li has only lost one set throughout the whole qualifying tournament. This will be his second main-draw Grand Slam appearance.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Alcaraz is the big favorite in this matchup, which is obvious. However, the handicap line is set really high on the Australian. We believe that with the help of the crowd, Tu will be able to keep this match at least a little bit tight. Alcaraz injured his ankle just a couple of days ago, so we are not sure how he will look on the court.
That being said, Tu covering the games handicap is a value bet.
