ATP US Open 1/64-Finals

Shapovalov – Van de Zandschulp: 27.08.2024 Time TBA
H2H: 1-0

Denis Shapovalov has won three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Montreal, Denis failed in front of his own crowd in his opening match against Nakashima. A week before that, Denis reached the quarterfinals in Washington when he got disqualified against Shelton. He is looking to get some solid results in this part of the season to get back into the top 100. In 2023, Denis did not play at the US Open due to an injury. His last US Open appearance was in 2022, when he lost in the third round against Rublev in five tough sets.

Botic Van de Zandschulp has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Winston-Salem, Botic lost his first round match against Cazaux in straight sets. This has been a disappointing season so far for de Zandschulp. The former world number 22 even speculated about taking an early retirement from tennis due to losing passion for the sport. It is worth mentioning that Botic is only 28 years old. Last year in New York, Botic lost in the second round against Dan Evans.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Botic is the big underdog in this matchup. Both players are struggling with their form. We expect this match to be tight. We believe that Botic will have a solid chance against Denis, so we trust him to cover the games handicap.

That being said, Botic covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Botic Van de Zandschulp +4.5 games handicap @2.00 @bet365

Tsitsipas – Kokkinakis: 27.08.2024 Time TBA
H2H: 1-0

Stefanos Tsitsipas has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Cincinnati, Stefanos lost against Draper in the second round. His recent poor performances led to him dropping out of the top 10 in the rankings. Stefanos also parted ways with his father as a coach. He never delivered his best tennis here in New York, holding an even 6-6 record in the main-draw. Last year in New York, Stefanos lost in the second round against Stricker in five sets.

Thanasi Kokkinakis has won three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Montreal, Kokkinakis reached the second round as a qualifier. He lost against Hurkacz in three tight sets. It was a solid tournament preparation for the Aussies. Kokkinakis is looking for a solid result here in New York to cement his top 100 status. Last year at the US Open, Kokkinakis was upset by Hsu in the first round.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Stefanos is the favorite in this matchup. Tsitsipas is out of form, and with his coaching changes, we are not sure how he will look on the court. On the other hand, Thanasi had a solid tournament preparation in Montreal. We believe that he will have a chance against Stefanos, and keep this match tight.

That being said, Kokkinakis covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Thanasi Kokkinakis +3.5 games handicap @2.00 @bet365
