ATP US Open Best Bets Including Sinner vs McDonald

Jannik Sinner in action ahead of the ATP Vienna Open.

ATP US Open 1/64-Finals

Tabilo – Goffin: 27.08.2024 17:00 CEST
H2H: 0-1

Alejandro Tabilo has lost three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Cincinnati, Alejandro lost his first round match against Darderi in straight sets. A week before that, Tabilo reached the 1/8-Finals in Montreal, where he lost against Sinner in straight sets. The Chilean is looking to finally get a solid result at the Grand Slam level to get into the top 20 in the rankings. So far this season, Alejandro has been consistent throughout the whole season. Last year in New York, Tabilo lost in the first qualifying round against Millman in straight sets.

David Goffin has won four of his last five matches. Last week in Winston-Salem, Goffin reached the semifinals where he lost against Sonego in straight sets. A week before that, David reached the semifinals at the challenger level tournament in Cary. Those tournaments were much needed for Goffin and his confidence coming into the US Open. Last year in New York, Goffin lost in the first qualifying round against Novak.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, this should be a 50-50 match. Looking at both players, Alejandro is currently a better hard-court player than Goffin. His only problem is his inexperience playing at the highest level. However, we still believe that he will get the job done against David.

That being said, Tabilo winning is a value bet.

Sinner – McDonald: 27.08.2024 19:30 CEST
H2H: 3-0

Jannik Sinner has won five straight matches. Last week in Cincinnati, Jannik won the title, winning against Tiafoe in the final. En route to the final, Sinner won against some great players such as Rublev and Zverev. The world number 1 is coming up into this tournament as one of the biggest favorites. However, his recent failed drug test might challenge him mentally. Last year in New York, Jannik lost in the fourth round against Zverev in five tough sets.

Mackenzie McDonald has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Cincinnati, McDonald failed to qualify for the main-draw. So far this season, McDonald has not performed well. With his inconsistent season so far, McDonald dropped out of the top 100 in the rankings. He is also winless at the Grand Slam level this season. He has also won only one main-draw tour level match this season. Mackenzie had his biggest results at the challenger tour level this season. Last year in New York, McDonald reached the second round where he lost against Gojo in straight sets.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Sinner is the big favorite in this matchup. We believe that he will win this match, but Mackenzie is a dangerous player playing at home. Sinner will be under pressure given his recent failed drug test, so we expect him to be nervous out there. On the other hand, McDonald will play without any pressure, so we believe that he will keep this match tight.

That being said, McDonald covering the games handicap is a value bet.
