ATP US Open 1/64-Finals
Bellucci – Wawrinka: 27.08.2024 Time TBA
H2H: first meeting
Mattia Bellucci has won four of her last five matches. Last week in Cary, Bellucci played in the final of the challenger tournament where he lost against Safiullin in three tight sets. It was a solid preparation for the upcoming tournaments. Here in New York, Bellucci won all the qualifying rounds in straight sets. Mattia dominated in every single match, and showed that he was ready for the main-draw tournament. He is yet to win a main-draw match at the Grand Slam level. He is looking to get a solid result here in New York to get into the top 100.
Stanislas Wawrinka has lost three of his last five matches. The last match he played was at the Olympic Games in Paris, where he lost in the second round against Popyrin in straight sets as we predicted. Since then, Stan has taken some time off to prepare for the US Open swing. The former world number 3 has been struggling with his fitness recently. Next year, Stan will turn 40. We saw that in his Grand Slam matches this season, where he lost his strength later in the match. Last year in New York, Wawrinka reached the third round at the US Open where he lost against Sinner in four sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Bellucci is the slight favorite in this matchup. He had a great qualifying tournament, and looks ready for the big stage. On the other hand, Wawrinka is completely out of form, and struggling with his fitness. We believe that the Italian will win this match based on his recent performances here in New York, and his overall better conditioning.
That being said, Bellucci covering the games handicap is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: Mattia Bellucci -3.5 games handicap @1.80 @bet365
Evans – Khachanov: 27.08.2024 Time TBA
H2H: 4-0
Dan Evans has lost four of his last five matches. This has been the worst season for the Brits. Last week in Winston-Salem, Evans lost his first round match against Vukic in three sets. His last hard-court win was in Miami earlier this season. At the beginning of the season, Evans was a top 50 player. However, his recent poor performances led to him dropping out of the top 150 in the rankings. Evans has a perfect record in the opening matches here in New York, winning all seven first round matches in his career. Last year in New York, Dan lost in the third round against Alcaraz in four tight sets.
Karen Khachanov has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Cincinnati, Khachanov lost his second round match against Zverev in straight sets as we predicted. He is heading into the US Open in terrible form. Last year at the US Open, Khachanov lost in the first round against Mmoh in straight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Evans is the underdog in this matchup. Both players are out of form and inconsistent. We expect a tight match, that could go either way.
That being said, Evans covering the games handicap is a value bet.
