Humbert – Monteiro: 26.08.2024 17:00 CEST
H2H: 0-1
Ugo Humbert has lost three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Cincinnati, Ugo lost in the first round against Jordan Thompson in three sets. He is looking to get a solid result this week in New York to keep his top 20 spot secured. The Frenchman usually underperforms at the Grand Slam level. So far in his career, Humbert has never reached a quarterfinal at such a tournament. Last year at the US Open, Ugo lost in the first round against Berrettini in straight sets. He never made it past the second round here in New York.
Thiago Monteiro has lost three of his last five matches. His last match was at the Olympic Games in Paris on clay, where he lost in the first round against Baez. His last hard-court match was in Miami in March, where he lost in the first qualifying round against Walton. This was also his only hard-court match this season. Monteiro plays most of the time on the slower clay courts. His biggest result here at the US Open was in 2022, where he reached the second round.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Humbert is the favorite in this matchup, and we agree with that. He is overall a way better hard court player than Monteiro. We believe that he will dominate from the very start, and win this match easily.
That being said, Humbert winning in straight sets is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: Ugo Humbert winning 3-0 @2.10 @bet365

Marterer – Zverev: 26.08.2024 17:00 CEST
H2H: 0-1
Maximilian Marterer has won three of his last five matches. Here in New York, Marterer tried to qualify into the main-draw through the qualifying tournament. He won the first two qualifying matches in straight sets. However, in the final qualifying round, Marterer lost against Krueger in straight sets. Maximilian was granted a spot in the main-draw tournament as a lucky loser. This has been one of his worst seasons. Marterer did not have any remarkable results, which led to him dropping out of the top 100 in the rankings.
Alexander Zverev has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Cincinnati, Sascha reached the semifinals where he lost against Sinner in three tight sets. It was overall a very solid tournament for him to prepare for the US Open. In 2020, Zverev played his first ever Grand Slam final. It was here in New York when he lost against Thiem in five sets, after he was 2-0 up. Last year at the US Open, Zverev lost in the quarterfinals against Alcaraz in straight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Zverev is the big favorite in this matchup. Sascha is one of the best players in the world right now. We believe that he will start off his US Open campaign strong. Marterer is completely out of form, so we trust Zverev to win here easily.
That being said, Zverev covering the games handicap is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: Alexander Zverev -7.5 games handicap @1.83 @bet365
