ATP US Open 1/64-Finals
Nardi – Bautista-Agut: 26.08.2024 17:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting
Luca Nardi has lost five straight matches. Almost a month ago, Nardi retired mid-match against Krueger in the first round. He suffered an elbow injury, but looks ready to compete here in New York. Nardi had his biggest result earlier this season at the Indian Wells Masters tournament, when he defeated Djokovic. However, since then, Luca has not had any remarkable results. He is looking to get a solid result this week to secure his top 100 spot.
Roberto Bautista-Agut has lost four of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Cincinnati, Roberto lost in the first qualifying round. The Spaniard is 36 years old, and his on-court movement looks limited at the moment. He never had any success here in New York. His most recent campaign was in 2022, where he lost in the first round of the tournament against J.J. Wolf.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Bautista is the big favorite in this matchup. We are not sure if he will be able to stay fit throughout the whole best of five match. Nardi was injured, but he looked fit at his practice sessions. We believe that he will keep this match tight.
That being said, Nardi covering the games handicap is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: Luca Nardi +6.5 games handicap @1.80 @bet365
Shelton – Thiem: 26.08.2024 18:00 CEST
H2H: 1-1
Ben Shelton has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Cincinnati, Ben had a solid performance, reaching the quarterfinals. He lost there against Zverev in three tight sets. A week before that, Shelton reached the semifinals in Washington. Those two tournaments were a solid preparation for the US Open. Ben is defending semifinals points from last year. Last year in New York, Ben lost against Djokovic in the semifinals.
Dominic Thiem has lost four straight matches. His last match that he played was over a month ago in Kitzbuhel, where he lost against Tirante in the first round. His last hard-court match was at the Australian Open, when he lost against Auger-Aliassime in a tough five sets. The former US Open champion will retire at the end of the season. Dominic had too many injury problems, which is the main reason why he can not find his rhythm. Last year at the US Open, Dominic retired mid-match against Shelton in the second round of the tournament.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Shelton is the big favorite in this matchup. We believe that Thiem had more than enough time to prepare for the US Open. Dominic will give his best one last time here in New York. We believe that he will keep this match tight.
That being said, Thiem covering the games handicap is a value bet.
