ATP US Open 1/64-Finals
Popyrin – Kwon: 26.08.2024 18:30 CEST
H2H: 1-0
Alexei Popyrin has won four of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Montreal, Alexei upset everyone and won the title. Last week in Cincinnati, Popyrin lost his first round match against Monfils in straight sets. He looked emotionally exhausted on the court after he won the biggest title of his career. Alexei is looking to go deep here in New York, to get closer to the top 20 in the rankings. Last year in New York, Popyrin lost in the first round against Stricker in four tight sets.
Soonwoo Kwon has lost four of his last five matches. The last match he played was over a month ago in Hamburg on clay, where he lost against Marterer in three tight sets. His last hard court match was in Busan at the challenger tour level, earlier this season. Kwon is still using his protected ranking since returning from his injury. His best ranking was number 52 in the rankings. Soonwoo is a solid hard-court player, and if he can just stay healthy, we believe that he will be part of the top 100 soon enough. Last year in New York, Kwon lost in the first round against Eubanks in four tight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Kwon is the big underdog in this matchup. As we already mentioned before, Kwon is a solid hard-court player. Popyrin had a great tournament in Montreal two weeks ago, but we still believe that Kwon will be able to keep this match tight.
That being said, Kwon covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Ramos-Vinolas – Berrettini: 26.08.2024 18:30 CEST
H2H: 0-1
Albert Ramos-Vinolas has lost four of his last five matches. The veteran has had a rough season so far. Two weeks ago in Cordenons, Albert lost in the second round at the challenger tour level against Collarini in straight sets. His last hard court match was at the Australian Open, where he lost against Ruud in straight sets. This was also his only hard-court match of the season. Ramos-Vinolas is the typical Spaniard who loves to compete on clay. He never had any remarkable results on the fast hard courts. Last year in New York, Ramos lost in the opening round against Michelsen in straight sets.
Matteo Berrettini has won four of his last five matches. Since winning the title in Kitzbuhel, Matteo has played only one match. Two weeks ago in Cincinnati, Berrettini lost in the opening round against Rune in three tight sets. Here in New York, Matteo reached the quarterfinals or better three times, and usually performs well. Last year at the US Open, Berrettini retired mid-match against Rinderknech in the second round of the tournament.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Matteo is the big favorite in this matchup, and we agree with that. Ramos-Vinolas is nowhere near his level, so we believe that Berrettini will win his opening match easily.
That being said, Berrettini covering the games handicap is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: Matteo Berrettini -9.5 games handicap @1.73 @bet365
