ATP Winston-Salem Day 2 Predictions Including Corentin Moutet vs Mackenzie McDonald

Corentin Moutet, a Challenger Tour champion last week, in action.

11 matches are scheduled on Monday, Day 2 at the ATP Winston-Salem Open, including two second-round matches. Matches will be exciting as players compete to find their rhythm for the US Open. As always, we here at LWOT will offer our predictions for every match on the slate for day 2. But who will advance?

ATP Winston-Salem Day 2 Predictions

Juncheng Shang vs Francisco Comesana

Head-to-Head: First meeting

Juncheng Shang had to retire due to an injury in his last match at the Citi Open. Before that, Shang was playing some great tennis and reached the semifinals in Atlanta, losing to Jordan Thompson in three sets. He is one of the most exciting young players in the top 100 and will look to get some wins here. Francisco Comesana will play his first-ever main draw match on hard courts. The Argentinian has shown that he can play well on fast courts at Wimbledon but he switched back to clay after that. It will take some time for him to adjust and Shang will take advantage.
Prediction: Shang in 3

Pablo Carreno Busta vs Omni Kumar

Head-to-Head: First meeting

Pablo Carreno Busta played some high-level tennis in Cincinnati and looked like his vintage self at times. He has matches under his belt and has a good draw to make a deep run here at the Winston-Salem Open. Omni Kumar has come from qualifying to set up this match. Kumar has played only four main draw matches in his career and three have come at this venue. He has a good record here but Carreno Busta is a better and more experienced player at this level.
Prediction: Carreno Busta in 2

Corentin Moutet vs Mackenzie McDonald

Head-to-Head: Moutet 0-1 McDonald

Corentin Moutet beat some good players to qualify for the Cincinnati Open main draw but lost to Fabian Marozsan in a close two-setter. He looked very pissed with his serve in general, making just 49% first serve. He will look to improve on that and get his first main draw win of the North American hard courts swing. Mackenzie McDonald won their only meeting in Shanghai last year but he is currently in Cincinnati, waiting to play the doubles finals alongside Alex Michelsen. It would be a very short turnaround for McDonald if he decided to play here. Moutet has the advantage.
Prediction: Moutet in 3
