ATP Montreal Best Bets Including Rune vs Carreno-Busta

Holger Rune ATP Indian Wells BNP Paribas Open

ATP Masters 1000 Montreal 1/16-Finals

Rune – Carreno-Busta: 08.08.2024 Time TBA
H2H: 0-3

Holger Rune has won three of his last five matches. His last match before the Masters in Montreal was three weeks ago in Hamburg, where he retired mid-match against Fils due to knee discomfort. Rune was trailing 6-4 to 4-1 when he made this decision. After that, Rune had to skip the Olympic Games as well. Here in Montreal, Rune defeated Bautista-Agut in the first round of the tournament in three tight sets. This season was not the greatest for the Dane.

Pablo Carreno-Busta has lost three of his last five matches. The Spaniard is still slowly returning on the tour. With all of his injuries, Busta has played only six matches this season, and has a losing 2-4 record. Here in Montreal, Carreno defeated Marozsan in three tight sets, after spending almost three hours on the court. Last time he competed here in Montreal was in 2022, when he won the title.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Busta is the big underdog in this matchup. He looked ready in the first round against Marozsan. On the other hand, Rune has been struggling with his form this season, and did not look great in his first round performance against Bautista-Agut.

That being said, Busta covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Pablo Carreno-Busta +3.5 games handicap @2.00 @bet365

Sonego – Tabilo: 08.08.2024 Time TBA
H2H: 1-0

Lorenzo Sonego has won three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Umag, Sonego reached the quarterfinals where he lost against Cerundolo in three tight sets. This has been a terrible season for him. His first consecutive wins happened in Umag, two weeks ago. With such recent results, Lorenzo is outside the top 50. Here in Montreal, Lorenzo defeated Griekspoor in three tight sets, after spending almost three hours on the court.

Alejandro Tabilo has lost three of his five matches. Last week in Paris, Alejandro lost in the first round of the Olympic Games against Safiullin in straight sets. His last hard court match before the Masters in Montreal was in Miami in March, when he lost in the second round against Dimitrov. Here in Montreal, Tabilo defeated Tiafoe in the first round in straight sets as we predicted. Alejandro is looking to get a decent result this week to get into the top 20. So far this season, the Chilean has won two ATP titles and played overall great throughout the whole season.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, this should be a 50-50 match. Tabilo is playing his best tennis, and had the best season of his career. His first round match against Tiafoe was almost perfect. On the other hand, Sonego did not do much this season. His first round match here in Montreal was solid, but he spent almost three hours on the court.

That being said, Tabilo winning is a value bet.
