ATP Montreal Best Bets Including Nishikori vs Michelsen

Kei Nishikori

ATP Montreal 1/32-Finals

Sonego – Griekspoor: 06.08.2024 17:00 CEST
H2H: 1-0

Lorenzo Sonego has won three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Umag, Sonego reached the quarterfinals where he lost against Cerundolo in three tight sets. Since then, Lorenzo has not played any matches and took some time off. This has been a terrible season for him. His first consecutive wins happened in Umag, two weeks ago. With such recent results, Lorenzo is outside the top 50. This will be his first appearance here in Montreal.

Tallon Griekspoor has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Paris, Griekspoor lost in the second round of the Olympic Games against Alcaraz in straight sets. So far this season, Tallon has not have any remarkable results. His biggest result was reaching the semifinal in Rotterdam, where he lost against Sinner in straight sets. This will be his first appearance here in Montreal as well.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Griekspoor is the slight favorite in this matchup. Both players are out of form. However, Tallon is a better hard-court player than Sonego. Looking at this season, Tallon performed better overall than Lorenzo. He was just unlucky with the draw. We believe that he will be a better player on the court, and win easily.

That being said, Griekspoor winning is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Tallon Griekspoor winning @1.62 @bet365

Michelsen – Nishikori: 06.08.2024 18:30 CEST
H2H: 1-0

Alex Michelsen has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Washington, Michelsen reached the quarterfinals where he lost against Cobolli in three tight sets. It was a solid preparation tournament for the upcoming masters. So far this season, Alex has played two Masters tournaments on the hard courts. He won both first round matches, but could not make it past the second round. This will be his debut match here in Montreal.

Kei Nishikori has lost four of his last five matches. Last week in Paris, Kei lost in the first round of the Olympic Games against Draper in straight sets. His fitness level is still questionable, but Kei is fighting hard to compete at the highest level. The former world number 4 has already played in one Masters tournament this season. It was in Miami, where he lost against Ofner in the first round of the tournament. It was also his last and only hard court match he had played this season. His biggest result here in Montreal was in 2015, when he reached the semifinals.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Michelsen is the favorite in this matchup. Unfortunately, Kei is nowhere near his best level. Alex had a solid performance last week in Washington. He is in solid form, so we believe that he will win his first round match easily.

That being said, Michelsen winning in straight sets is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Alex Michelsen winning 2-0 @1.91 @bet365
