He offered only one breakpoint and saved it as well. This is the first final of the season for Sebastian. So far in his career, Korda has played 8 finals, and has a losing 1-7 record.
Flavio Cobolli has won four of his last five matches. Last week in Umag, Cobolli lost in the 1/8-Finals against Lajovic in straight sets. Here in Washington, Cobolli won his first round match against Goffin in straight sets. Flavio won every important point in the first set, and managed to close the set through the tiebreak. In the second set, Cobolli was the better player from the very start and won the set 6-3 easily. After that, in the second round, Flavio lost the first set against Davidovich Fokina. However, Flavio picked up his level and won the second and third deciding sets through tiebreaks. It was a roller-coaster match, with both players struggling with their consistency. In the quarterfinals, Cobolli won against Michelsen in three tight sets. Cobolli spent almost three hours on the court. Once again, there were many ups and downs in that match, but Flavio looked calmer on the court and got the job done. Yesterday in the semifinals, Flavio upset Ben Shelton in three tight sets. Once again, Cobolli spent a lot of time on the court. Cobolli lost the first set, but stayed calm and turned the match around. This will be his biggest match of his career. Flavio has a chance to win his maiden title this Sunday.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Korda is the favorite in this matchup. Looking at his experience, we believe that he will handle the pressure better than Cobolli today. Overall, Sebastian is a better hard-court player than Cobolli. Both players are fighting for their first title of the season. That is why we believe that experience will be the main factor in this match. Other than that, Cobolli spent much more time on the court than Korda this week.
