ATP Olympic Games final
Djokovic – Alcaraz: 04.08.2024 Time TBA
H2H: 3-4
Novak Djokovic has won five straight matches. Here in Paris, Novak absolutely dominated against Ebden in his first round match as we predicted. Matthew was far away from his best level when he used to play singles. In the second round, Novak won easily against Rafael Nadal in straight sets. Nadal looked exhausted on the court, and did not offer much. Nole was 4-0 up in the second set, but lost his serve twice. However, Novak stayed calm and finished the match in straight sets. In the 1/8-Finals, Novak won against Koepfer in straight sets. The German put up a big fight in the first set. However, Novak was a better player when it was important. In the second set, Djokovic broke his serve once and finished the match comfortably. In the quarterfinals, Novak won against Tsitsipas in straight sets. It was by far his biggest challenge in the tournament so far, but Novak handled it perfectly. After winning the first set 6-3, Novak started the second set poorly. He was 0-4 down, but somehow came back and won the set through the tiebreak. Today, in the semifinals, Novak defeated Musetti in straight sets. Something we do not say too often, but Novak is yet to win a title this season. His whole focus is on the Olympic Games, because that is the only tournament he ever won.
Carlos Alcaraz has won twelve straight matches. Just two weeks ago, Carlos lifted his second Wimbledon title, winning against Djokovic in the final as we predicted. Alcaraz played outstanding tennis throughout the whole tournament. Here in Paris, Carlos won his first round match against Habib in straight sets. It was an easy match for Carlos. Habib is a challenger player who could not offer much against Carlos. After that, in the second round, Carlos defeated Griekspoor in straight sets once again. Alcaraz was great under pressure, saving both breakpoints he offered in the match. In the 1/8-Finals, Safiullin put up the fight in the first set. However, Carlos won once again in straight sets. Alcaraz lost his serve once at the beginning of the first set. Other than that, Carlos had a solid serving performance. In the quarterfinals, Carlos won against Tommy Paul in straight tight sets as we predicted. Tommy was all over the court, but Carlos was prepared. Only one game decided the first set. In the second set, both players showed great tennis. Tommy was serving for the set at 5-3, but lost his nerves. In the end, Alcaraz saved one set point in the tiebreak, and won the match in straight sets. Today in the semifinals, Carlos demolished Auger-Aliassime in straight sets as we predicted. Here at the Olympic Games, Alcaraz is the biggest favorite to lift the title in the end.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Alcaraz is the favorite in this matchup. We believe that he is currently the best player in the world. Djokovic was not brilliant in his semifinal match. His on-court movement looked weird at times. Carlos is currently a better player at the moment, so we believe that he will win the gold for Spain on Sunday.
That being said, Alcaraz winning in straight sets is a value bet.
