It was also his first hard court tournament after Wimbledon. Frances is on the verge of losing her top 30 spots. This will be his eighth appearance in Washington. Last year in Washington, Frances reached the quarterfinals where she lost against Dan Evans in straight sets.

According to the bookies, Galan is the big underdog in this matchup. Tiafoe is out of form, so we are not sure if he will perform well here in Washington.
