The tennis tournaments at the Paris Olympics continue with 14 women’s singles matches on Sunday. The quest for Gold features some of the top players in the sport. As always, we here at LastWordOnTennis will predict all matches for you. We split the 14 matches into four articles. The other articles feature Coco Guaff vs Ajla Tomljanovic, Caroline Wozniacki vs Mayar Sherif and Jessica Pegula vs Viktoriya Golubic. Predicting these matches are Yesh Ginsburg and Jordan Reynolds. Paris Olympics Women’s Day 2 Predictions
Xinyu Wang (China) vs Tamara Korpatsch (Germany)
Yesh
Neither woman seems in great form at the moment, so don’t expect too much this week. Still, one of them is reaching the second round. On clay, I’ll guess the German, but I’m not confident.
Prediction: Korpatsch in 3
Jordan
Korpatsch is enduring a torrid season. It is probably not the ideal time to play Wang, who reached the Wimbledon fourth-round a few weeks ago, beating Jessica Pegula along the way. The Chinese player should be able to exploit Korpatsch’s vulnerabilities this season.

Ekaterina Alexandrova (Neutral) vs Yue Yuan (China)
Yesh
Alexandrova has pretty quietly made herself into a top player. I don’t think Yuan has any weapons that can hurt her.
Prediction: Alexandrova in 2
Jordan
Neither player thrives on clay. Of the two, Alexandrova has been slightly better on the dirt. Her movement is very vulnerable on clay, but I doubt Yuan is good enough to take advantage of that. Alexandrova to progress in straight sets.

Sara Sorribes Tormo (Spain) vs Barbora Krejcikova (Czech Republic)

Krejcikova seems to be in full confidence after winning Wimbledon, and she loves the clay. She’s won a Major here in Paris, and she’ll be aiming to add Olympic Gold to that trophy case.
Prediction: Krejcikova in 2
Jordan
The Wimbledon champion Krejcikova cannot afford any complacency in this matchup. Sorribes Tormo is one of the grittiest players on the tour, and the Czech will need to win some long rallies to progress to the next round. Krejcikova’s firepower should be enough though, especially the free points she gets on her serve.
