ATP Olympic Games Best Bets Including Djokovic vs Ebden

Novak Djokovic in action ahead of the ATP Rome Masters.

ATP Olympic Games 1/32-Finals

Darderi – Paul: 27.07.2024 12:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Luciano Darderi has won three of his last five matches. Yesterday in Umag, Darderi lost his second round match against Mensik in straight sets. A week before that, Darderi reached the quarterfinals in Hamburg, where he lost against Baez in three tight sets. So far this season, Darderi has had some great challenger tour level results on clay which brought him so many wins. Earlier this season, Luciano won the ATP title in Córdoba as a qualifier. He has been consistent throughout the whole season on clay.

Tommy Paul has won four of his last five matches. The last match he played was at Wimbledon, where he lost against Alcaraz in four sets. After that, Tommy took some time off to rest his body and prepare for the Olympic Games. His last clay court match was at the French Open where he lost against Cerundolo in the third round of the tournament as we predicted. So far this season, Paul has not had any remarkable results on clay.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Paul is the favorite in this matchup, and we agree with that. Darderi is a great clay court player, but he lacks experience. We believe that Paul will handle this match perfectly, and be calmer in crucial situations.

That being said, Paul winning is a value bet.

Djokovic – Ebden: 27.07.2024 13:30 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Novak Djokovic has won four of his last five matches. His last match was at Wimbledon, where he lost against Alcaraz in the final as we predicted. His last clay court match was at the French Open, where he withdrew from the tournament before his quarterfinal clash against Casper Ruud. Something we do not say too often, but Novak is yet to win a title this season. His whole focus is on the Olympic Games, because that is the only tournament he ever won.

Matthew Ebden is currently a doubles player. His last singles match was in 2022. Since then, the 36-year-old Australian has played only doubles. Being an Australian, Matthew loves to play on fast courts. He never had any success playing on clay. His last clay court win was in 2017. His main focus will be on doubles, where he plays with his partner John Peers. We believe that he will have no chance against Novak in the singles’ competition.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Novak is the big favorite in this matchup, which is obvious. Even in his prime form, Matthew would have no chance against Novak on clay. As we previously mentioned, Novak will be hungry to win the Olympic Games for the first time. Being not 100% fit, we believe that Djokovic will try to keep his first round matches as short as possible.

That being said, Novak covering the games handicap is a value bet.
