ATP 250 Gstaad 1/8-Finals
Auger-Aliassime – Hanfmann: 18.07.2024 Time TBA
H2H: first meeting
Felix Auger-Aliassime has lost three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago at Wimbledon, Auger lost his first round match against Kokkinakis as we predicted. His last clay court match was at the French Open where he lost against Carlos Alcaraz in straight. His biggest clay court result this season was reaching the final in Madrid where he lost against Andrey Rublev in three tight sets.
Yannick Hanfmann has lost three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago at Wimbledon, Hanfmann lost in the first round against Jannik Sinner. Here in Gstaad, Yannick defeated Moreno de Alboran in three tight sets. Hanfmann served well, saving both breakpoints. So far this season, Yannick has not had any remarkable results. This might be the tournament where he will find his best form due to the fast conditions. His form is terrible, and he is also outside the top 100 at the moment. Last year in Gstaad, Hanfmann reached the quarterfinals where he lost against Medjedovic in straight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Hanfmann is the big underdog in this matchup. He had a solid first round performance. On the other hand, Auger will play his first clay court match after Wimbledon. The players usually need some time to adapt to the surface. We believe that Hanfmann will keep this match tight.
That being said, Hanfmann covering the games handicap is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: Yannick Hanfmann +3.5 games handicap @1.85 @bet365
Berrettini – Galan: 18.07.2024 Time TBA
H2H: first meeting
Matteo Berrettini has won three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago at Wimbledon, Matteo lost against Jannik Sinner in the second round in four tight sets as we predicted. Here in the first round, Matteo defeated Cachin in straight sets as we predicted. His last clay court match before ATP Gstaad was in Monte Carlo where he lost against Kecmanovic in the first round. Before that match, Kecmanovic won the title in Marrakech. So far this season, Berrettini has won six of the seven clay court matches he has played. Last time he played in Gstaad was in 2022, where he lost against Casper Ruud in the final.
Daniel Elahi Galan has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Braunschweig, Galan lost against Cachin in straight sets in the quarterfinal. Here in Gstaad, Galan defeated Kopriva in easy straight sets. He lost his serve only once in the match, and served well throughout the whole match. So far this season, Galan has not had any remarkable results on clay.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Berrettini is the favorite in this matchup. We believe that he is currently one of the best clay court players on the tour. Galan is currently at the challenger tour level, so we believe that he will have no chance against Matteo.
That being said, Berrettini winning in straight sets is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: Berrettini winning 2-0 @1.67 @bet365
