ATP 250 Bastad 1/16-Finals
Coria – Monteiro: 16.07.2024 Time TBA
H2H: 1-2
Federico Coria has lost three of his last five matches. Last week, Coria played in the challenger tournament in Salzburg where he lost in the quarterfinal against Ritschard in three sets. So far this season, Coria has spent most of her time playing at the challenger tour level. So far this season. Federico has played two semifinals already and one final. However, he is yet to win the title this season. Coria are looking to get back into the top 50.
Thiago Monteiro has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Salzburg, Monteiro reached the semifinals where he lost against Jacquet in straight sets. So far this season, Thiago has had some solid performances at the ATP tour level. Earlier this season in Madrid, Thiago reached the third round as a qualifier. After that, Monteiro reached the 1/8-Finals in Rome, once again as a qualifier.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, this should be a 50-50 match. Monteiro had a better clay court season than Coria. He played more matches at the ATP tour level, so we believe that he will perform better than Coria in the first round.
That being said, Monteiro winning is a value bet.

Nadal – Borg: 16.07.2024 Time TBA
H2H: first meeting
Rafael Nadal has lost three of his last five matches. Something we do not see often is Nadal playing at the ATP 250 tournament. Nadal skipped the grass court part of the season to prevent his body from further injuries and to rest for the second part of the season. The last match he played was at the French Open, where he lost against Zverev in the first round as we predicted. So far this season, Nadal has played only 9 clay court matches and has a 5-4-4 record. He is looking to get some wins here in Bastad to regain his confidence.
Leo Borg has lost five straight matches. Being Swedish, Borg was granted a wildcard here in Bastad. Last week in Braunschweig, Borg tried to qualify for the challenger tournament, but failed in the first qualifying round against Stodder. Before that, Borg played a couple of ITF tournaments, but failed to get any wins. Last year in Bastad, Borg won his first round match against Ymer in straight sets. In the second round, Borg stood no chance against Coria, losing in straight sets. Leo had his biggest results at the ITF level on the hard courts. This will be his biggest match of his young career as he will face the best clay court play of all time.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Nadal is the huge favorite, which is obvious. We believe that Nadal will win this match. However, Borg will play in front of his home crowd with nothing to lose. We believe that he will play without any pressure, and keep this match tight.
That being said, Borg covering the games handicap is a value bet.
