ATP Wimbledon 1/64-Finals
Rublev – Comesana: 02.07.2024 13:30 CEST
H2H: first meeting
Andrey Rublev has won three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago, Andrey was upset by Giron in the first round of the ATP Halle. That was also his first preparation tournament for Wimbledon. After that, Andrey played only two exhibition matches, and won both of them. The Russian needs to find his best tennis and start winning matches if he wants to stay in the top 10. Last year at Wimbledon, Andrey reached the quarterfinals where he lost against Novak Djokovic in four sets. His quarterfinal appearance last year is also his best result at Wimbledon.
Francisco Comesana has lost four of his last five matches. Last week, Comesana tried to qualify for the ATP Eastbourne. He lost in the first qualifying round against Broom in three sets. This was also his first-ever match on the grass court. His first round match against Rublev will also be his first-ever main-draw Grand Slam match. The young Argentinian has spent most of his career playing at the challenger tour level, mostly on clay.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Rublev is the big favorite in this matchup. Comesana did not look good in his first-ever grass court match against Broom. He was struggling a lot, and did not look ready for the big stage. We believe that Rublev will dominate from the very start, and win this match easily.
That being said, Rublev covering the games handicap is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: Andrey Rublev -8.5 games handicap @1.91 @bet365
Rune – Kwon: 02.07.2024 14:00 CEST
H2H: 0-2
Holger Rune has won three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in London, Rune lost against Jordan Thompson in the first round in straight sets. That was also his first preparation tournament for Wimbledon. After that, Rune played two exhibition matches, and won both of them. Last year at Wimbledon, Rune reached the quarterfinals where he lost against Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets.
Soonwoo Kwon has lost three of his last five matches. His last competitive match was at the French Open, where he lost in the second round against Sebastian Korda. Unfortunately, his career has been ruined because of the injuries. However, every time he plays on the big stage, Kwon offers great tennis. His fast and aggressive game fits the surface perfectly. He never had any remarkable results, but he always fought hard against the better ranked opponents. His last Wimbledon match was in 2022, where he lost against Djokovic in the first round. Kwon won the second set, and kept the match tight against one of the best grass court players in the world.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Rune is the big favorite in this matchup. As we already mentioned, Kwon loves to play on the big stage, and he has already had some solid matches on grass. Rune is still inexperienced playing on grass, so we believe that Kwon will keep this match tight.
That being said, Kwon covering the games handicap is a value bet.
