ATP Wimbledon 1/64-Finals
Auger-Aliassime – Kokkinakis: 02.07.2024 17:30 CEST
H2H: first meeting
Felix Auger-Aliassime has won three of his last five matches. After he lost in the 1/8-Finals at the French Open against Carlos Alcaraz, Felix did not play much. Two weeks ago in Halle, Auger retired mid-match against Koepfer in the first round. Last week, Auger played two exhibition matches, and won both of them. He looked 100% fit and ready for Wimbledon. Last year at Wimbledon, Auger was upset by Mmoh in the first round. His best grass court result remains at Wimbledon in 2021, when he reached the quarterfinals where he lost against Matteo Berrettini.
Thanasi Kokkinakis has won three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago, Kokkinakis tried to qualify for the ATP Queens. He retired in the final qualifying round against Taro Daniel. After that, Thanasi played an exhibition match against Schwartzman, and won in two easy sets. He looked fit and ready for Wimbledon. Last year at Wimbledon, Kokkinakis lost in the qualifying tournament against Riedi in the first qualifying round. In 2022, Thanasi reached the second round at Wimbledon, when he lost against Djokovic in straight sets. Even though Kokkinakis plays fast and aggressive tennis, he never had any success on grass.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Auger-Aliassime is the favorite in this matchup. Both players are currently out of form. Even though Kokkinakis never had any major results on grass, he can be very dangerous if his serve is working fine.
That being said, Kokkinakis covering the games handicap is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: Thanasi Kokkinakis +3.5 games handicap @1.83 @bet365
Murray – Machac: 02.07.2024 18:00 CEST
H2H: 0-2
Andy Murray has lost four of his last five matches. Sir Andy is, unfortunately, struggling with his form and injuries as well. Two weeks ago in London, Murray retired mid-match against Jordan Thompson in the 1/8-Finals. So far this season, Andy has played three matches on grass, and has a losing 1-2 record. The former Wimbledon champion will probably retire after this season. His body is suffering, and his on-court movement looks slower. Last year at Wimbledon, Murray lost in the second round against Tsitsipas in five sets.
Tomas Machac has lost three of his last five matches. After he lost in the third round of the French Open against Medvedev, Machac took some time off. Two weeks ago, Tomas played his first grass court tournament of the season. He lost in Halle in the first round against Fils in straight sets. Machac never had any remarkable results on grass. Last year at Wimbledon, Machac lost in the first round against Norrie in four sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Machac is the favorite in this matchup. Looking at his current form and his fitness issues, we are not sure if Andy is ready for a possible four or five sets. Machac is a solid player, and we believe that he will win easily against Andy.
That being said, Machac covering the games handicap is a value bet.
