ATP Wimbledon 1/64-Finals
Arnaldi – Tiafoe: 01.07.2024 12:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting
Matteo Arnaldi has lost three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago, Arnaldi reached the 1/8-Finals in London, where he lost against Hijikata in straight sets. Since then, Arnaldi has been preparing for Wimbledon, and has not played any competitive matches. The Italian played last year at Wimbledon, which was his first main-draw appearance at Wimbledon. Arnaldi lost in the first round against Carballes Baena in four sets. Matteo has played only 9 matches on grass throughout his career, and has a losing 4-5 record. He will have a chance to win some points here in London, and get into the top 30 in the rankings.
Frances Tiafoe has lost three of her last five matches. Tiafoe has been struggling a lot with his form this season. He is on the verge of dropping out of the top 30 in the rankings. Two weeks ago in London, Tiafoe retired mid-match against Hijikata in the first round. Since then, Frances has not played any competitive matches. Three days ago, Frances defeated Zhang at the exhibition tournament in Hurlingham. He looked fit and ready for Wimbledon. Last year at Wimbledon, Tiafoe reached the 1/16-Finals where he lost against Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, this should be almost a 50-50 match. Looking at their grass court results, we can say that Tiafoe is a better grass court player than Arnaldi. However, Frances has been inconsistent this season, so we believe that this will be a very tight match.
That being said, over games is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: over 41.5 games @1.83 @bet365
Bolt – Ruud: 01.07.2024 12:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting
Alex Bolt has won four of his last five matches. Two weeks ago, Bolt played at the challenger tournament in Nottingham where he lost in the second round against Shang. Here at Wimbledon, Alex had to fight through the qualifying tournament to get into the main draw. Alex won his first two qualifying round matches in straight sets easily. However, in the final qualifying round, Bolt had to dig deep against Riedi. He was 0-2 down, but managed to stay calm, and turn the match around. Bolt even had to save one match point in the third set. Last year at Wimbledon, Bolt lost against Hijikata in the first qualifying round.
Casper Ruud has won four of his last five matches. At the beginning of the month, Casper reached the semifinals at the French Open where he lost against Alexander Zverev in four sets. That was also his last competitive match. Casper usually tries to avoid grass court tournaments. Last year on grass, Ruud played only at Wimbledon, where he lost in the second round against Liam Broady.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Bolt is the huge underdog in this matchup. We can not agree with that, because Ruud never had any remarkable results on grass. Casper has only won four competitive matches on grass throughout his career.
That being said, Bolt covering the games handicap is a value bet.
