The Bad Homburg Open’s quarterfinal matches are set, and there will be some fascinating ones to watch. The defending champion, Katerina Siniakova, is going strong and the former World No.1, Caroline Wozniacki, is finding her form. As always, we here at LWOT will offer our predictions for every match on the slate. But who will advance to the semifinals?
WTA Bad Homburg Quarterfinal Predictions
Donna Vekic vs Katerina Siniakova
Head-to-Head: Vekic 1-4 Siniakova
Donna Vekic played a brilliant match in the second round to beat the dangerous Ekaterina Alexandrova. It looks like Vekic has started to find her form again and her level of tennis is increasing with every tournament. She loves playing on grass which makes her a tough opponent for anyone for the rest of the grass season. Katerina Siniakova beat the No.2 seed, Liudmila Samsonova to remain on her quest of defending the title. Siniakova has played an excellent grass season so far and would back herself to win the Bad Homburg Open title once again. Siniakova has dominated this match-up over the years and should win in a tightly contested battle.
Prediction: Siniakova in 3
Paula Badosa vs Diana Shnaider
Head-to-Head: Badosa 3-1 Shnaider
This is the fourth meeting between these two this year and the first ever on grass. Paula Badosa has looked good whenever she has been healthy this season and would be relieved that she does not have to face Aryna Sabalenka here. Surprisingly, this is her first quarterfinal on grass and she will hope to reach further. Diana Shnaider is becoming better and better. This is just her second season on Tour, and she is adapting to new challenges like a champion. Shnaider has not dropped a set in her two matches and her forehand is brutal on grass. This would be an exciting match that may go either way, but Shnaider’s strong game may be too much for the Spaniard to handle.
Prediction: Shnaider in 3
Emma Navarro vs Caroline Wozniacki
Head-to-Head: First meeting
Caroline Wozniacki won consecutive matches for the first time since Indian Wells in March. The former world No.1 took apart the second serve of Veronika Kudermetova in a straight sets beatdown. Wozniacki needed some wins going into Wimbledon and she is getting just that. Emma Navarro is having the best season of her short career and she is not in the mood to slow down anytime soon. After a first-round loss in Berlin, she has bounced back quickly and won two convincing matches at the Bad Homburg Open. Navarro’s game is well-suited to grass, and she will be confident coming into this match. Wozniacki has tons of experience on grass but Navarro is full of confidence right now.
Prediction: Navarro in 3
