ATP Wimbledon qualifications
Moreno De Alboran – Paire: 24.06.2024 15:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting
Nicolas Moreno De Alboran has lost four straight matches. Three weeks ago, Moreno De Alboran played a qualifying tournament in Hertogenbosch where he lost in the first qualifying round against Brouwer in three sets. This was also his first grass court tournament of the season. Before that, Moreno played a challenger tournament in Zagreb where he lost in the first round against Pacheco Mendez. Moreno is a very solid clay court player, but he never had any success on grass. The last match that he won on grass was at Wimbledon in 2022.
Benoit Paire has lost five straight matches. Paire does not look motivated on the court. He has also had some fitness issues recently, so we are not sure if he is fit enough for this qualifying tournament. The last match he played was one month ago at the French Open qualifications where he lost against Kovalik in straight sets. Benoit is also not a big fan of grass courts. He rarely plays on it. Last year, Paire also played only one match. The last time he won on grass was in 2019 at Wimbledon, where he won in the 1/16-Finals against Vesely.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Moreno Alboran is the favorite in this matchup. Both players are struggling on grass courts. However, Moreno had already played one competitive match on grass against a solid grass court player, Gijs Brouwer. Moreno kept that match tight, and looked solid. Paire did not play any competitive matches in over a month, so we believe that he will still be rusty.
That being said, Moreno De Alboran covering the games handicap is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: Nicolas Moreno De Alboran -3.5 games handicap @2.00 @bet365
Kudla – De Jong: 24.06.2024 16:30 CEST
H2H: first meeting
Denis Kudla has lost three of his last five matches. Last week, Kudla played in a challenger tournament in Ilkley where he lost against Benjamin Bonzi in two tiebreaks. Before that, Kudla lost at the challenger tournament in Nottingham in the first round. Kudla used to be a very solid grass court player. However, the last time he had a remarkable result on grass was in 2022 when he reached the final at the challenger tournament in Surbiton. Last year at Wimbledon, Kudla failed to qualify in the last round, losing against Shimabukuro in straight sets.
Jesper De Jong has won 5 straight matches. Last week, De Jong played at the challenger tournament in Sassuolo. Jesper looked great, and lifted the trophy, winning against Altmaier in the final. This will be his first grass court tournament of the season. Last year at Wimbledon, De Jong lost in the second qualifying round against Kovacevic in straight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Jesper is the underdog in this matchup. Kudla is nowhere near his best level, so we believe that De Jong will have a decent chance. De Jong is playing great tennis at the moment, and if he could qualify at Wimbledon, he would probably get into the top 100 in the rankings.
That being said, De Jong covering the games handicap is a value bet.
