ATP Eastbourne Best Bets Including Giron vs Cerundolo

ATP 250 Eastbourne 1/16-Finals

Shang – Etcheverry: 24.06.2024 15:00 CEST
H2H: 1-0

Juncheng Shang has won four of his last five matches. Two weeks ago, Shang reached the quarterfinals at the challenger tournament in Nottingham. Here in Eastbourne, Shang fought through the qualifying tournament. In the first qualifying round, Shang defeated Otte in three sets, while hitting 33 winners with just 16 unforced errors. Today, Shang won against Hussey in the final qualifying round. Shang did not play many matches on grass, but he has a winning record on it. He looks comfortable playing on grass, and his tennis fits the surface perfectly.

Tomas Martin Etcheverry has lost four of his last five matches. The young Argentinian is a great clay court specialist. However, he usually underperforms on grass. Etcheverry loves to play long rallies, and needs a lot of time to prepare his ground strokes. That is the main reason why he underperforms on grass. Last week in London, Etcheverry lost in the first round against Harris. That was also his first grass court tournament of the season. Last year in Eastbourne, Etcheverry lost in the first round against J.J. Wolf.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, this should be a 50-50 match. Looking at their previous grass court results, we can say that Shang is a better grass court player than Etcheverry. Shang is only 19 years old, and his best results on grass are yet to come.

That being said, Shang winning is a value bet.

Giron – Cerundolo: 24.06.2024 16:30 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Marcos Giron has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Halle, Giron reached the quarterfinals where he lost against Hurkacz in two tight sets as we predicted. En route to the quarterfinals, Giron won against Rublev and Berrettini. Marcos played overall a very solid tournament, so we believe that he will look good here in Eastbourne. Giron has played only 5 matches on grass so far this season, and has a winning 3-2 record. Those two defeats were against Hurkacz and Draper, who are in great form, and overall are great grass court players.

Francisco Cerundolo has won three of his last five matches. Last week in London, Cerundolo played his first grass court match of the season. He lost in the first round against Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets. This is his least favorite surface. Before that, Cerundolo reached the 1/8-Finals at the French Open where he lost against an injured Novak Djokovic in five tight sets. Last year in Eastbourne, Cerundolo surprisingly won the title, winning against Paul in the final.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, this should be a 50-50 match. Cerundolo has played only one match on grass this season, so we are not sure how he is looking. On the other hand, Giron has already had a couple of great wins on grass this season. We believe that Giron is currently in better form, and that he will feel more comfortable than Cerundolo playing on grass.

That being said, Giron winning is a value bet.
