ATP French Open Ruud vs Zverev Best Bet

ATP French Open semifinals

Ruud – Zverev: 07.06.2024 17:30 CEST
H2H: 2-3

Casper Ruud has won nine straight matches. Two weeks ago, Casper won the title in Geneva, and picked up his form right before the French Open. Here in Paris, Ruud won his first round match against Meligeni Alves in straight sets easily. After that, Casper had a marathon match against Davidovich Fokina. Eventually, Casper played better under pressure and won the match in five sets. In the third round, Ruud faced a very solid clay court player, Tomas Etcheverry. Casper was a better player throughout the match besides the second set, which he lost 1-6. It was overall a very solid performance from Ruud who is looking to get into his third French Open final. In the 1/8-Finals, Ruud won against the in-form Taylor Fritz in four sets. Yet again, Ruud lost the second set, but kept his composure and won the match easily. Novak Djokovic, the defending champion, injured his knee in his quarterfinal match against Cerundolo and was unfortunately forced to withdraw from the tournament. That being said, Casper went into the semifinals without having to play in the quarterfinals. That means more rest for him. Casper Ruud finished as the runner-up in the last two French Open editions.

Alexander Zverev has won 11 straight matches. Two weeks ago, Sascha lifted the title in Rome after beating Nicolas Jarry in straight sets. This year in the first round, Zverev defeated Nadal in straight sets as we predicted. Sascha did not fumble under the pressure and was able to handle the situation really well. After that, Sascha had another great performance, winning against Goffin in three sets. In the third round, Alexander was on the verge of losing against Griekspoor. He was 1-4 down in the fifth set, but managed to keep his composure and turn the match around. In the 1/8-Finals, Zverev came back after being 1-2 down against Rune. It was another hard-fought match for Zverev, but he still came through as the winner. Alex de Minaur also did not have an answer for Zverev, who looked tired in his quarterfinal match yesterday. Zverev made many unforced errors, but was still able to win against de Minaur in straight sets. It was a brutal match for both players. Zverev had 20 winners with 48 unforced errors. It is a miracle that he managed to win the match in straight sets. Sascha knows how to play against big players. However, this was not the case at the Grand Slams where he has a losing 3-15 record against top-10 players. His last three French Open tournaments all ended in the semifinals.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, this should be a 50-50 match. Zverev looked tired in his last match against de Minaur, which led to him making almost 50 unforced errors. On the other hand, Casper had much more rest with Novak withdrawing from the tournament. Last year, Ruud defeated Zverev exactly at the French Open semifinal in easy straight sets. We expect a similar performance from him tomorrow as well.

That being said, Ruud winning is a value bet.
