ATP French Open Best Bets Including Medvedev vs Machac

Daniil Medvedev in action at the French Open.

ATP French Open 1/16-Finals

Machac – Medvedev: 01.06.2024 12:30 CEST
H2H: 0-1

Tomas Machac has won four of his last five matches. Last week, Machac surprisingly reached the final in Geneva where he lost against Ruud in straight sets. En route to the final, Machac won against some solid players, including Novak Djokovic. Tomas won in the first round against Borges in straight sets as we predicted. Yesterday, Machac won against Navone in five sets. He made way too many unforced errors, but still found the way to win the match. Last year Machac was ranked out of the top 100 and did not even qualify for the French Open.

Daniil Medvedev has won three of his last five matches. Earlier this month, Medvedev reached the semifinals in Madrid. Daniil hates to play on clay, as he once said, and is usually underperforming on this surface. In the first round, Medvedev won in the first round against Koepfer in four sets. Yesterday, Medvedev played against an injured Kecmanovic. Daniil won the first set 6-1, and was 5-0 up in the second when Kecmanovic decided to retire. Last year, Daniil was upset by Seyboth Wild last year in the first round.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Machac is a huge underdog in this matchup. We already saw how well he can perform on any given day this season. Medvedev hates playing on clay, so we believe Machac might keep this match tight.

That being said, Machac covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Cerundolo – Paul: 01.06.2024 14:30 CEST
H2H: 3-2

Francisco Cerundolo has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Lyon, Cerundolo was upset by Gaston in three sets. Cerundolo is yet to lose a set here in Paris. In the first round, Cerundolo won against Hanfmann in straight sets. Yesterday, Francisco completely dominated from the very start against the qualifier, Misolic. It was an easy match for Cerundolo, who lost only 8 games throughout the match. Last year in Paris, Cerundolo reached the 1/8-Finals where he lost against Holger Rune in five tough sets.

Tommy Paul has won four of his last five matches. Two weeks ago, Paul surprisingly reached the semifinals in Rome where he lost against Jarry as we predicted. Paul is also yet to lose a set here in Paris. In the first round, Paul won against Cachin in three easy sets. Yesterday, Paul lost only three games against Fabio Fognini. It was a great performance from Paul, who seems comfortable playing on clay this year. So far in his career, Paul has not had any remarkable results in Paris. However, as a junior, Tommy won the French Open in 2015.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, this should be a 50-50 match. We believe that Cerundolo is a better clay court player, and that he will prove that in this match. Francisco played great tennis last year in Paris, so we expect him to go deep this year as well.

That being said, Cerundolo winning is a value bet.
