ATP French Open 1/32-Finals
Kotov – Wawrinka: 29.05.2024 Time TBA
H2H: first meeting
Pavel Kotov has won three of his last five matches. Last week, Kotov reached the quarterfinals in Lyon where he lost against Bublik in three tight sets. Earlier this season, Kotov reached the semifinals in Marrakech as well. Since last year, Kotov has shown great tennis and stabilized himself in the top 100. Yesterday, Kotov fought for over 4 hours against Norrie in the first round. He was trailing 1-2 in the sets, but Kotov kept his composure and turned around the match. Pavel played aggressively from the very start, getting 54 winners with 59 unforced errors. It was overall a very solid performance from him.
Stanislas Wawrinka has lost three of his last five matches. Stan the Man is unfortunately on the verge of getting out of the top 100. This season, Wawrinka could not keep up physically with the other players in the lengthy matches. We should not forget that Stan is 39 years old, so his conditioning issues are normal. Last year at the French Open, Wawrinka reached the second round where he lost against Kokkinakis in a 5-set thriller. Yesterday, Wawrinka won against Andy Murray in straight sets as we predicted. Stan played a great match and was just a better player than Sir Andy.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Kotov is just a slight favorite in this matchup. We believe that Stan can not keep up with such competitive matches. Kotov should be a better player on the court, and we believe that he will win comfortably.
That being said, Kotov winning is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: Pavel Kotov winning @1.73 @bet365
Marozsan – Dimitrov: 29.05.2024 Time TBA
H2H: first meeting
Fabian Marozsan has lost three of his last five matches. In the previous two tournaments, Marozsan had two 1st round exits. However, Marozsan played a very solid match yesterday, winning against Kukushkin in three easy sets. He served well and played smart tennis. Last year in Paris, Marozsan lost in the second qualifying round against Shang in straight sets. He has had a decent season, and we believe he may be dangerous against Dimitrov.
Grigor Dimitrov has won three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago, Dimitrov lost in the 1/8-Finals of the ATP Masters 1000 in Rome against Fritz in three sets. Before that, Dimitrov was upset by Mensik in Madrid where he lost in three sets against him. Yesterday, Dimitrov won in straight sets against Kovacevic. So far this season, Dimitrov has yet to have any remarkable results on the clay. Last year in Paris, Dimitrov lost against Zverev in the 1/8-Finals.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Marozsan is a big underdog in this matchup. We are not sure if he could upset Dimitrov, but we believe that he will put up a big fight. Dimitrov did not have any remarkable wins this season on the clay.
That being said, Marozsan covering the games handicap is a value bet.
