ATP French Open Best Bets Including Wolf vs De Jong

J.J. Wolf Australian Open

ATP French Open qualification final

Burruchaga – Kovalik: 24.05.2024 11:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Andres Burruchaga has won four of his last five matches. Last week, Burruchaga reached the semifinals of the Oeiras 4 challenger tournament where he lost against Faria in three tight sets. Here in Paris, Andres won both of his qualification round matches in straight sets. In his first match, Burruchaga upset Shang in straight sets. Yesterday, Andres dominated from the very start against Uchiyama and won convincingly 6-2 6-4. He was 0-4 down in the second set, but kept his composure and turned around the set, winning 6 games in a row.

Jozef Kovalik has also won four of his last five matches. Last week, Kovalik played in the challenger final in Mauthausen where he lost against Pouille in straight sets. En route to the final, Kovalik won against some of the solid clay court players. Here in Paris, Kovalik won against two the French, Paire and Bonzi, in straight sets. In the first qualification round, Kovalik did not give away any points to Paire. He defeated him 6-1 6-4 in under an hour. After that, Kovalik won against Bonzi convincingly 6-3 6-2. In those two matches, Kovalik served greatly, losing his serve only once. He is in great form, and he deserves to get into the main draw.

Best Bet to Make

Jozef Kovalik has a history of playing at the qualification tournaments for the Grand Slams. His experience should prevail in this match. Burruchaga is still young and inexperienced, so we believe that he will fumble under pressure.

That being said, Kovalik winning is a value bet.

Wolf – De Jong: 24.05.2024 11:00 CEST
H2H: 0-1

J.J. Wolf has won four of his last five matches. Last week, Wolf reached the quarterfinals of the Turin 2 challenge, where he lost against Sonego in straight sets. Being an American, Wolf rarely plays on the clay courts in Europe. Last year, Wolf lost in the first round at the French Open against Nishioka in five sets. In the first round of the qualification tournament, Wolf won against Peniston in three sets. Yesterday, Wolf won in straight sets against another American, Patrick Kypson. That being said, Wolf has yet to face a solid clay court player.

Jesper De Jong won both of his qualification round matches in straight sets. He is a very solid clay court player. De Jong played in the first round against Llamas Ruiz, where he won in two very tight sets. After that, De Jong defeated Novak easily in straight sets. Last year, De Jong lost in the final qualification round against Medjedovic in three sets.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, this should be a 50-50 match. We believe that De Jong is a better clay court player than Wolf. He has won more matches this season on clay, and we believe that he will qualify for the main draw.

That being said, De Jong winning is a value bet.
