ATP Geneva Best Bets Including Djokovic vs Hanfmann

Novak Djokovic in action at the ATP Rome Open.

ATP Geneva 1/8-Finals

Djokovic – Hanfmann: 22.05.2024 18:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Novak Djokovic has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Rome, Djokovic lost his second round match against Tabilo in straight sets. He said that he was affected by that bottle that had hit him earlier that week. Novak looked lost on the court and was really imbalanced. However, after he got checked by the doctors, everything looked fine. Something we do not say often, but Nole is yet to win a title this year. We believe that his age is slowly affecting him on the court, and that his form will keep decreasing.

Yannick Hanfmann has won three of his last five matches. Last week, Hanfmann played a challenger tournament in Turin where he lost in the second round against J.J. Wolf in straight sets. Here in Geneva, Hanfmann played a great first round match against Andy Murray, defeating him 7-5 6-2. This faster clay court fits his game well. Hanfmann served well, not offering any breakpoints. So far this season, Hanfmann has not had any remarkable results and rather had a disappointing season.

Best Bet to Make

Novak Djokovic is completely out of form. According to the bookies, Novak is a big favorite tonight. However, we believe that Hanfmann will serve well yet again. The handicap line is set at 5.5, which is very high, and we believe that he will cover that line easily.

That being said, Hanfmann covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Shapovalov – Griekspoor: 22.05.2024 19:30 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Denis Shapovalov has won three of his last five matches. He is still struggling with his consistency. Since his comeback, Denis has not had any remarkable results. The clay court surface is his least favorite one given his attacking playing style. Denis lost last week in Rome in the first round against Darderi. Before that, Denis had two decent wins in Madrid against solid clay-court players Diaz Acosta and Etcheverry. Here in Geneva, Shapovalov defeated Coria in straight sets as we predicted. He played a great match and as we already mentioned, this kind of clay court fits his game perfectly.

Tallon Griekspoor is also struggling with his form. He has won three of his last five matches. The last match he played was in Rome, where he was upset by Passaro in three sets. Before that, Griekspoor had two decent wins in Rome, but other than that, Griekspoor has not had any remarkable results on the clay so far this season. Last year in Geneva, Griekspoor withdrew from the tournament in the second round. Yesterday, Griekspoor had it hard against the Eubanks as we predicted. Griekspoor won, but was pretty tight in three sets.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, this should be a 50-50 match. However, we believe that Shapovalov showed better tennis in the first round. This surface fits his game perfectly, and we believe that he might go deep this week.

That being said, Shapovalov winning is a value bet.
