ATP Geneva Day 4 Predictions Including Casper Ruud vs Sebastian Ofner

Casper Ruud in action at the French Open.

Second-round action continues at the ATP Geneva Open. Second seed Casper Ruud begins his quest for a third title at this tournament when he plays Austrian qualifier Sebastian Ofner. We also preview the rest of the day’s matches in a separate article–including Novak Djokovic vs Yannick Hanfmann. Who will reach the quarterfinal?

ATP Geneva Day 4 Predictions

Denis Shapovalov vs Tallon Griekspoor

Head-to-head: first meeting

Tallon Griekspoor needed three sets to overcome the big-serving Christopher Eubanks. As far as clinics go, Denis Shapovalov produced one in his first-round win over Federico Coria. It was just his seventh win of a turbulent comeback season. The Canadian has got dynamite in his racket. He has played some great tennis in his last five matches and, unlike Eubanks, has a well-rounded game that will discomfit Griekspoor.
Prediction: Shapovalov in 2

Tomas Machac vs Nicolas Moreno De Alboran

Head-to-head: first meeting

Tomas Machac will attempt to win back-to-back matches on clay at the Tour level for the first time since the 2023 Houston Open. It’s been long overdue. Injury setbacks have prevented him from doing so, most notably in Barcelona. He didn’t show physical discomfort in beating Jack Draper 7-6 6-1 in his opening match. For Moreno De Alboran, a second ATP quarterfinal beckons after a comprehensive win over David Goffin. He was a quarterfinalist in Marrakech in early April, where, incidentally, he got the better of the Belgian. Right now, it is the Czech with the higher ceiling and the clear favorite in this matchup.
Prediction: Machac in 3

Casper Ruud vs Sebastian Ofner

Head-to-head: Ruud 1-0 Ofner

Casper Ruud was the top seed in Geneva until Novak Djokovic took that spot with his late entry as a wild card. But that won’t matter. Ruud has enjoyed a more successful clay swing than the Serb so far. He was a runner-up in Monte Carlo and won his first ATP title above 250 level in Barcelona. Defeat to Miomir Kecmanovic in Rome can only be termed as a blip. Sebastian Ofner has notched three successive wins from qualifying, but his struggles, especially the second serve, were evident in a three-set win over Rinky Hijikata. Ruud’s progress to the last eight should be serene.
Prediction: Ruud in 2
