Alejandro Tabilo has won seven straight matches. Last week, Tabilo won the challenger title in France, defeating Munar in straight sets. Here in Rome, Tabilo won his first match convincingly against Hanfmann in straight sets. After that, Tabilo upset Djokovic 6-2 6-3, in one of his best matches of his career. Novak played terribly, but we have to give props to Tabilo, who fought hard and was brave with his shotmaking. Today, Tabilo won against Khachanov in two tiebreaks after being almost three hours on the court.
Zhizhen Zhang has won four straight matches. He is yet to lose a set in Rome. It is worth mentioning that he got lucky with the draw as he is yet to face a top 20 player besides Ben Shelton, who does not play well on the clay. Today, Zhang won against in-form Thiago Monteiro. He served well, winning 82% points after the 1st server went in. Before ATP Rome, Zhang did not have any remarkable results so far this season. He also had his biggest results on the fast hard courts in his career, so this one is definitely one of his biggest, if not the biggest successes on the clay.

Alejandro Tabilo came into this match full of confidence. We believe that he is overall a better clay court player than Zhang, and that he will win this match and reach the semifinals.

Alexander Zverev has won three straight matches without losing a set here in Rome. Today, Zverev won against Borges in straight sets. Before that match, Zverev had won his first two matches in straight sets as well. Tomorrow’s match against Fritz will be his biggest challenge so far in this tournament. So far this season, Zverev has not had any success on the clay. He lost in Munich against Garin in the quarterfinals. After that, Zverev lost against Cerundolo in straight sets in the 1/8-Finals in Madrid. Last year in Rome, Zverev lost against Medvedev in the 1/8-Finals
Taylor Fritz has won seven of his last eight matches. Being an American, Fritz usually underperformed on the clay. However, so far this season, Fritz has been really consistent in the clay court tournaments and showed improvement. Two weeks ago, Fritz reached the semifinals in Madrid where he lost against Rublev in straight sets. Here in Rome, Fritz won his first two matches easily against Fognini and Korda. However, Fritz struggled against Dimitrov today and won after being on the court for almost three hours. Last year in Rome, Fritz lost in the first round against Hanfmann.
Best Bet to Make
Alexander Zverev is one of the best clay court players on the tour. We believe that he could go deep this week and even win the title. Fritz is in solid form, but he is not a clay court specialist like Zverev.
That being said, Zverev winning is a value bet.
