ATP Madrid quarterfinals
Sinner – Auger-Aliassime: 02.05.2024 11:00 CEST
H2H: 0-2
The 22-year-old Australian Open champion pulled out of his ATP Masters 1000 Madrid quarterfinal match against Auger-Aliassime. Sinner wrote “My hip has been bothering me this week and has slowly been getting more painful”. He is the top seed here in Madrid.
Medvedev – Lehecka: 02.05.2024 20:00 CEST
H2H: 1-0
Daniil Medvedev has won four of his last five matches. Medvedev struggled in the second and third round in Madrid. In the second round, Medvedev won against Arnaldi under a closed roof in three hard fought sets. After that, Medvedev faced Korda in another three-set thriller. In those two matches, Medvedev spent almost 5 hours on the court. Yesterday, Medvedev won against Bublik in two tight sets after being on the court for almost 2 hours yet again. He lost his serve twice in that match against Bublik. This is one of his best performances on the clay courts in his career. Medvedev openly said that he hates playing on the clay, and that the ATP should ban it as a surface. This is his debut quarterfinal appearance at the Madrid Masters. In the past two editions, Medvedev reached the 1/16-Finals, but he could not do more. Looking at this season, Medvedev is yet to win the title. He reached the final at the Australian Open, where he lost against Sinner in 5 sets. After that, Medvedev reached the final at Indian Wells, where he lost against Alcaraz. His latest big result was reaching the semifinals in Miami, where he was completely destroyed by Sinner in straight sets.
Jiri Lehecka has won three of his last five matches. The ATP Masters 1000 in Madrid is his first clay court tournament of the season. He has won all of his matches in straight sets in the tournament so far. In the second round, Lehecka won in two tight sets against Medjedovic who was coming back from an injury. After that, Lehecka had another tight match against Monteiro. Last night, Lehecka secured the most memorable victory of his career. He defeated Rafael Nadal in straight sets on the clay as we predicted, something you do not see too often. Lehecka seemed unaffected by the atmosphere and the meaning of that match. We have to mention that Nadal is nowhere near his best level, but it is still tough to win against the best clay court player of all time. Lehecka now has another chance at winning against the top 4 players for the first time in his career. So far, Lehecka has faced the top 4 players six times in his career, and has lost every single time.
Best Bet to Make
After winning against Nadal, we believe that Lehecka gained a lot of self-confidence. We believe that this is his biggest chance at reaching the semifinals of the Masters tournament. Medvedev is currently number 4 in the world, but he has never had any remarkable success on the clay. If Lehecka plays like he played against Nadal, we believe that he has a decent chance at winning tomorrow.
That being said, Lehecka covering games handicap is a value bet.
