ATP Madrid Best Bets Including Thiem vs Meligeni Alves

Dominic Thiem French Open

ATP Madrid qualifications

Meligeni Alves – Thiem: 22.04.2024 14:30 CEST
H2H: 0-1

Meligeni Alves has won three of his last five matches. The last match he played was in his home country, Brasil. He reached the semifinals of the Sao Leopoldo challenge, where he lost against Vallejo in three sets. Meligeni has played a lot of matches already on the clay. All of his success this season came on the clay courts. Last season, Meligeni Alves won a challenger title on the clay in Lyon. He also had some semifinal appearances on the clay throughout the season. Meligeni loves to play on the slower surfaces, and we believe that he will enjoy his time in Madrid.

Dominic Thiem is far away from his best days. He even said that he stopped comparing himself to his old self. The former US Open champion is outside the top 100. He has lost four of his last five matches. There were some terrible losses this season against lower-ranked players. Thiem is, unfortunately, too inconsistent, and he is making way too many unforced errors. It seems like he lost all the self-confidence he once had. The last match he played was last week in Munich, where he lost in the first round against the qualifier, Moro Canas.

Best Bet to Make

Meligeni Alves is currently in better form than Thiem. He has won a lot of matches this season already. We believe that he should be a favorite tomorrow. According to the bookies, he is a slight underdog in this matchup.

That being said, Meligeni Alves winning is a value bet.

Vavassori – Comesana: 22.04.2024 17:30 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Andrea Vavassori came into the main draw of the ATP 500 Barcelona last week as a lucky loser. He also got lucky and had a bye in the first round. After he lost in the final qualification round, Vavassori played in the second round without winning a single match. He lost in the second round against Bautista Agut in three sets. His biggest success this season was reaching the quarterfinals in Buenos Aires, where he lost against Alcaraz in straight sets.

Francisco Comesana won 5 straight matches and his first title of the season in Oeiras. En route to the title, Comesana had some tough matches. Most of his opponents were outside of the top 200. Before winning the title, Comesana did not have any remarkable results this season thus far. He spent a lot of time last week on the court, and we are pretty sure that he is exhausted. He played the final today, so that means that he does not have any time to rest.
He also had to travel to Madrid, right after the final.

Best Bet to Make

Andrea Vavassori is an experienced clay court player. He has played a couple of matches on the ATP Tour level already this season. Comesana is more of a challenger tour level player. He is yet to get into the ATP main draw tournament this season. All of his matches were at the challenger tour level or in the qualification rounds.

That being said, Vavassori winning is a value bet.
