Novak Djokovic absolutely dominated in his first clay court match of the season. Novak won against Safiullin 6-1 6-2, after playing for just over one hour. He did not offer any breakpoints and made only 5 unforced errors. It was a great display from number 1. Before this match, Djokovic was struggling with his form. After losing in the semifinal of the Australian Open against Sinner, Djokovic only played one tournament. It was one month ago at Indian Wells. He lost there against Nardi in possibly one of the biggest upsets of this decade. He did not play in that match. It even seemed like Novak had some fitness issues. After that, Novak parted ways with his coach, Goran Ivanisevic. He is currently with Nenad Zimonjic on the tour, but we are not sure if Zimonjic is only with him for Monte Carlo, or if he will stay for a longer period.
Lorenzo Musetti played in Estoril last week. He lost in the first round against Borges in straight sets. However, he has had two big wins already, here in Monte Carlo. Musetti won in the first round against Fritz in straight sets. After that, Musetti won against Fils, also in straight sets. He played great tennis, and we believe that he could cause some trouble for the Nole. The clay court surface is his favorite one, and he already won against Novak in Monte Carlo last year.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Musetti is a big underdog in this matchup. We can not agree with that. We believe that he is capable of winning again against Djokovic. Musetti played two great matches, and we believe that he will put up a big fight against Djokovic.
That being said, Musetti winning at least one set is a value bet.

Lorenzo Sonego won today against Auger-Aliassime in the 1/16-Finals. He entered this tournament as a lucky loser and even got lucky not to play in the first round. Sonego have not had any decent results this season so far. Before this tournament, Sonego played at Marrakech, where he lost against Berrettini in the quarterfinal.
Ugo Humbert had to play two matches in order to get into the 1/8-Finals. This was his first clay court tournament of the season. He is playing his best season right now. Humbert has already won two titles this year. Those titles got him into the top 15. After losing the first set in the first round against Coria, Humbert picked up his game and won 4 sets in a row. He showed great clay court tennis against Zhang today.
Best Bet to Make
Ugo Humbert is in great form. If he could repeat his performance from today, we believe that he could be a big threat to anyone. Sonego struggled a lot this season, so we believe that he won’t do much against Humbert tomorrow.
That being said, Humbert winning is a value bet.
