It was a thrilling quarterfinal day at the WTA 250 event in Bogota. All four matches went to a deciding set, and we now have two exciting semifinals to look forward to. No. 1 seed Marie Bouzkova faces Kamilla Rakhimova, while former Grand Slam runner-up Sara Errani battles home favorite Camilla Serrano. Which two players will reach the final?
WTA Bogota Semifinal Predictions
Marie Boukova vs Kamilla Rakhimova
Head-to-head: First meeting
Hopefully, both players will not be too exhausted for this match. Each woman came back from a set down to win their respective quarterfinals 7-5 in the third set. But both players are very fit and will be among the best on the WTA Tour at getting themselves ready again for the next match.
There is a nice clash of styles here for fans to enjoy. Bouzkova is one of the most consistent players out there, while Rakhimova will make a bigger effort to try to dominate from the baseline. Although Bouzkova’s physical style could be risky after such a long match in the quarterfinal, I think the No. 1 seed will still come through here. Her level is usually the more steady of the two, meaning I trust the Czech to be mentally the stronger player after both women played long matches.
Prediction: Bouzkova in 2
Sara Errani vs Camilla Osorio Serrano
Head-to-head: Errani 2-0 Osorio Serrano
It always felt like a tournament like this represented Errani’s best chance of getting to another final. A WTA 250 level final with a relatively open draw presented an opportunity and the veteran has taken it so far. But the same can be said for Osorio Serrano. Her home fans in Bogota roared her to a superb win from a set down in the quarterfinal against defending champion Tatjana Maria.
Errani may have the greater experience, but I feel Osorio Serrano is the favorite to advance to the final. Without a day’s rest, it is going to be a big ask for the 36-year-old Errani to recover from her three-set quarterfinal match. Osorio Serrano’s level was also sublime in the final two sets against Maria. If she can repeat that, the Colombian will be hard to stop.
Prediction: Osorio Serrano in 2
