ATP Miami final
Dimitrov – Sinner: 31.03.2024 18:30 CEST
H2H: 1-2
Grigor Dimitrov had another amazing match. He won against Zverev in three tough sets. He secured his return to the top 10 for the first time since November 2018. This will be his first final in Miami. Dimitrov said that he fights his own battles right now. It looks like he is handling them very well! He served exceptionally well yesterday. He served 18 aces and had only 2 double faults. Dimitrov was also great under pressure. He offered 2 breakpoints to Zverev and saved both of them. He played aggressively and was not scared at all. Dimitrov had 45 winners with only 10 unforced errors. Not something you see too often in today’s tennis. Before this match, Dimitrov destroyed Alcaraz in straight sets. Alcaraz said afterward that he did not know how to play against him and that Dimitrov schooled him. Other than that, Dimitrov had 2 tough battles against Hurkacz and Tabilo earlier this week.
He will face Jannik Sinner tomorrow in the final. Jannik Sinner demolished Daniil Medvedev as we predicted. In a rematch of the Australian Open final, Sinner left Medvedev with only 3 games. The 22-year-old Italian lost only one match this year. It was against Alcaraz at Indian Wells, two weeks ago! Sinner has a chance to overtake Alcaraz as world number 2 by winning the title tonight. We have to say that Medvedev also made many unforced errors and did not look composed at all. Medvedev had only 7 winners and 9 unforced errors. His gameplay was not good at all. Sinner had amazingly 17 winners with only 3 unforced errors. He offered 2 breakpoints earlier in the first set, but saved both of them. After that, it was a one-sided set. In the second set, Sinner broke Medvedev´s serve right away and won his serve easily. After that, Sinner offered another breakpoint, but Medvedev could not convert. After that hold of serve, Sinner broke his serve once again and finished the match easily. Jannik Sinner is the most consistent player at the moment. He won 8 sets in a row, here, in Miami. After losing against Sinner, Medvedev told us that Sinner has been playing like this for a while now. He was not happy with his approach and tactics for this match and said that Sinner was just too consistent. After this win, Sinner is now on a 5-match winning streak against Medvedev. Tonight, both players have a lot at stake. Grigor Dimitrov has already won one title this season, against Rune, in Brisbane. This will be his biggest final, after winning the title at the Nitto ATP Finals 2017. Before this tournament, many doubted him, but he is still only 32 years old and has a lot to prove! Dimitrov justified his nickname “baby Federer ”, here in Miami. It will be interesting to see if he can play against Sinner tonight and handle the pressure! We believe that Sinner showed better tennis against Medvedev. He was, from the very start, one of the biggest favorites here in Miami. We believe that he will repeat another great performance and win easily tonight! We respect how good Dimitrov has been so far, but we do not believe that he can maintain that kind of level in the final as well!
