ATP Miami quarter-finals
Machac – Sinner: 27.03.2024 20:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting
Tomas Machac is surely playing his best tennis. He managed to get into the quarter-finals with some big wins this week. This was the most significant quarter-final result of his career. Machac only lost one set against Murray on the road to the quarter-finals. He won against Rublev in the second round in straight sets. That gave him a lot of self-confidence! He is still only 23 years old and if he can maintain his conditioning on a high level, Machac might break into the top 20 anytime soon. He has a perfect game and nothing is stopping him! After winning against Rublev, Machac played a three-set thriller against Murray. They fought it out for over 3 hours. After such a tough match, we were not sure if he would be able to keep up with the heat in Miami. However, Machac won against Arnaldi yesterday in straight sets. He did not offer any breakpoints and managed to convert all three of them as well! It is fair that Machac has been handling the pressure well in this tournament so far. He will face Jannik Sinner tonight. Sinner played last week at the Indian Wells semifinals where he lost against Alcaraz. That was also his first loss of the year. After that loss, Sinner’s performance has declined a little bit. We saw that in the first two matches of the tournament. He won 6-3 6-4 against Vavassori, who is a tour level challenge player. After that, Sinner was set down against Griekspoor and managed to come back at the end. We are not sure if he is fighting with some minor injury since he has played so many matches this year already at a high level. Machac is a big underdog in this match. If this was Sinner from two weeks ago, we would give no chance to Machac tonight. However, Sinner had not played his best tennis yet in Miami. We believe that Machac has something to say and that he might give Sinner some trouble tonight!

Jarry – Medvedev: 28.03.2024 01:30 CEST
H2H: 0-1
Nicolas Jarry showed us once again how good he can be on the fast surface. In his last 20 matches against the top 10 players, Jarry won 9 of them. He can play against anyone when he brings up his A game. He did that against Ruud yesterday! Jarry won in straight sets and was just a better player on the court. He will play against the defending champion, Daniil Medvedev, tonight. Medvedev won all of his three matches in straight sets. He struggled yesterday in the first set against Koepfer. Medvedev had to come back from being down 0-4 in the tiebreak. After that, Koepfer just gave up and Medvedev stepped up! We expect another tough match for both players. It will be no wonder if they play two tiebreaks. Both players love to play in Miami. If their serves will work well, we expect a pretty long match. Jarry is a big underdog in this match! However, if he can repeat his performance from the last round, Jarry should have a decent chance tonight!
