WTA Indian Wells 2024 gets underway with two of the most recognized names on the WTA Tour, Caroline Wozniacki and Angelique Kerber on the match card. We have predictions for every day 1 match from the California desert.
Caroline Wozniacki vs Lin Zhu
With a 1-3 record, Wozniacki has started the year poorly, while Zhu is on a three match losing streak herself. Wozniacki’s current comeback attempt hasn’t yielded a lot of success so far, but her potential upside remains on boil, facing Zhu, Wozniacki is taking on an opponent who won 28 tour level matches last year and already reached a WTA Final this year. Petra Martic vs Angelique Kerber
Martic leads the h2h 2-1, being 4-5 on the season isn’t anything remarkable, but Kerber sits at an abysmal 1-6 after missing the 2023 season, there’s not a lot to indicate Kerber wil suddenly find form and turn things around, Martic should be a solid favorite. Martic in 2
Yafan Wang vs Rebecca Sramkova
At 8-4 to start the year Yafan Wang is on quite the tear, Sramkova found some form in qualifying and could be a threat but typically isn’t a factor at this WTA Tour level. Wang should have the upper hand. Wang in 3
Daria Saville vs Bernarda Pera
Saville already has more wins this season than she had last year, at 1-6 to start the year at tour level, the qualifier Pera has a long way to go to be a threat at the main tour level, Saville should continue to impress after a solid quarterfinal in San Diego. Saville in 2
