ATP Santiago Semifinal Predictions Including Sebastian Baez vs Pedro Martinez

Sebastian Baez in action ahead of the ATP Santiago Open.

It promises to be an entertaining day of semifinal action at the ATP Santiago Open with two intriguing matches on the slate. As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for both matches, as well as the action in Dubai and Acapulco. But who will book their place in the final in the Chilean capital?

ATP Santiago Semifinal Predictions

Alejandro Tabilo vs Corentin Moutet

Head-to-head: Moutet 1-0 Tabilo

Corentin Moutet’s debut in Santiago has been nothing short of remarkable. He entered the main draw as a qualifier and has notched up five wins on the bounce including a brilliant straight-set defeat of the defending champion, Nicolas Jarry in the quarterfinal. It’s a positive turnaround of events for the Frenchman who was forced to sit out January through injury.

He now has a chance to play in only his second final but he must overcome the home favourite Alejandro Tabilo. The Chilean hasn’t dropped a set all week and will be looking to add to the title he won in Auckland. Corentin Moutet defeat of Nicolas Jarry was no fluke. He showed tremendous grit to repel arguably the biggest server on clay and there’s no reason he cannot cause another upset.

Prediction: Moutet in 3

Sebastian Baez vs Pedro Martinez

Head-to-head: Martinez 2-1 Baes

Second seed Sebastian Baez is on the verge of his second tour final this year after capturing the title in Rio but he has to even the head-to-head against Pedro Martinez to earn a final spot. Interestingly, it will be a repeat of the 2022 final which the Spaniard won so expect Baez to be fired up for this one. The Argentinian is currently on a winning seven-match streak so he won’t be short on confidence.

This promises to be a titanic battle on the dirt. Their three previous encounters went the whole hog and this promises not to be an exception. Baez will be more motivated to win this. Aside from seeking revenge, a win will potentially see him surge into the top #20 and become the Argentine #1.

Prediction: Baez in 2
