ATP Rotterdam Semifinal Predictions including Grigor Dimtrov vs Alex de Minaur

Jannik Sinner in action ahead of the US Open.

The semifinals are set at the ATP Rotterdam Open and the matches promise plenty on paper. As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for both semifinals. But who will book their place in Sunday’s final?

ATP Rotterdam semifinal predictions

Jannik Sinner vs Tallon Griekspoor

Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner has made light work of his opponents so far at the ATP Rotterdam Open. Other than the second round match against Gael Monfils, the Italian has not dropped a set, though Milos Raonic, his opponent in the quarterfinals, did retire injured two games into the second set.

Sinner is on course for his third ATP 500 title, and the first of the 2024 season. The Italian claimed the titles in Beijing and Vienna last season and before winning his maiden slam title in Australia, the furthest he had reached was a semifinal at Wimbledon in 2023. Sinner had never gone beyond the fourth round at any Slam prior to that.

Tallon Griekspoor made the third round at the Australian Open and has been in fine form on home turf in Rotterdam, beating the fourth seeded Hubert Hurkacz in the second round in a very close match. Griekspoor will be looking to surprise the Grand Slam champion in the semi final, but it will be a tough ask.

Prediction: Sinner in 2

Grigor Dimitrov vs Alex de Minaur

Sixth seed against fifth seed in the ATP Rotterdam semi final. Grigor Dimitrov has been getting back to his best over the last couple of years. Coming back from injury and a ranking drop, the Bulgarian had an impressive 2023 season outside of the Slams, highlighted by his run to the final in Bercy where he lost to Novak Djokovic.

Australian Alex de Minaur made the fourth round at the Australian Open and is the fifth seed at the ATP Rotterdam Open. De Minaur made the final of the Masters 1000 event in Canada, but was defeated by Sinner. The fifth seed impressed last round by knocking out the second seed Andrey Rublev. Another good match is on the cards between these two and it should be close.

Prediction: de Minaur in 3
