ATP Cordoba Day 4 Predictions Including Sebastian Baez vs Hugo Dellien

Sebastian Baez in action ahead of the ATP Santiago Open.

We enter Day 4 at the ATP Cordoba Open with four Round of 16 matches on the schedule. Four Argentines will be in action, including No. 2 seed Sebastian Baez squaring off against Hugo Dellien. As always, we at LWOT have the preview and prediction for all the matches around the grounds of Cordoba. But who do you think will advance?

ATP Cordoba Day 4 Predictions

Sebastian Ofner vs Luciano Darderi

Head-to-Head: first meeting

No. 4 seed Sebastian Ofner started his season with a semifinal run in Hong Kong. Although he was bounced in the first round of the Australian Open, Ofner comes to the dirt of Cordoba with a lot of confidence. Italian Qualifier Luciano Darderi also brings some confidence into this match. The 21-year-old holds a 9-3 record in all competitions since November. Darderi is a fun player to watch, but Ofner should be able to push the young Italian around the court.

Prediction: Ofner in 2

Thiago Agustin Tirante vs Facundo Diaz Acosta

Head-to-Head: Tirante 1-0 Diaz Acosta

We have an all-Argentine showdown when Thiago Agustin Tirante and Facundo Diaz Acosta square off on Thursday. Both players are currently hovering right around world No. 100, so a nice run at ATP Cordoba could really jump-start their season. Diaz Acosta gave Taylor Fritz a five-set scare in Melbourne. The 23-year-old has all the tools to become a top 30 player. Tirante has played much more clay-court tennis this year compared to his compatriot, but after watching Diaz Acosta play at the Australian Open, it is hard to pick against him.

Prediction: Diaz Acosta in 3

Yannick Hanfmann vs Roman Andres Burruchaga

Head-to-Head: first meeting

No. 7 seed Yannick Hanfmann picked up a gritty three-set win over Juan Pablo Virallas in Round 1. It was a big win for the German, who was 1-7 in his previous eight matches dating back to mid-October. Qualifier Roman Andres Burruchaga is coming off a three-set battle of his own, downing fan favorite Diego Schwartzman to reach the Round of 16. The 22-year-old moves well on the clay and seems hungry for a breakout season. I’ll take Burruchaga backed by the home crowd.

Prediction: Burruchaga in 3

Sebastian Baez vs Hugo Dellien

Head-to-Head: Baez 2-0 Dellien

No. 2 seed Sebastian Baez was dreadful to end the 2023 season. He is looking to get back on track at ATP Cordoba, coming into this event as the defending champion. He opens his Cordoba campaign against Hugo Dellien. The 30-year-old Bolivian will make this a physical match, but he does not have the firepower or tools to beat Baez in his home country.

Prediction: Baez in 2
