ATP Cordoba Day 2 Predictions Including Yannick Hanfmann vs Juan Pablo Varrilas

Yannick Hanfmann French Open

The sixth edition of the ATP Cordoba Open event enters its second day, and we expect more entertainment on the dirt of the South American swing. Amongst the matches we’re analyzing is an all-Argentinian match-up between veteran Diego Schwartzman and his younger compatriot Roman Andres Burruchaga. Who will make it to the next round? We also have predictions for matches featuring Argentina’s own Federico Coria.

ATP Cordoba Day 2 Predictions

Daniel Altmaier vs Federico Coria

Head–to–Head: Altmaier 3-1

Federico Coria has had some great moments here at ATP Cordoba and was the losing finalist last year. However, he arrives here reeling from a disappointing loss to Ugo Carabelli in the final of the Challenger event in Brazil last week and is up against an opponent who has been waiting for the clay swing to commence.

Both players love the dirt and have started the season in decent form. Coria knows this surrounding well and will pose a tricky test for the German, but I’ll back Altmaier to pass his first test here in South America and grind out a win.

Prediction: Altmaier in 3

Diego Schwartzman vs Roman Andres Burruchaga

Head–to–Head: First Meeting

Diego Schwartzman was the losing finalist here in 2020, and it appears his career has plummeted since then – dropping out of the top 100. The Argentine is unplayable on his day, but his performance has been marred by inconsistencies, which his compatriot will be ready to take advantage of.

Burruchaga was impressive in the qualifiers, and if he can replicate his performance over the last week, there’s reason to believe he can defeat his more illustrious opponent in their first meeting

Prediction: Burruchaga in 3

Yannick Hanfmann vs Juan Pablo Varillas

Head–to–Head: Hanfmann 3 vs 0 Varillas

Both players are in dreadful form and will be looking to jumpstart their season with a win at ATP Cordoba. Varillas has been unable to secure a win this season in 4 attempts while his opponent has just managed a solitary victory in the same number of matches.

Expect a feisty match that may go the distance with both men determined to carry the day to up their confidence. Their head-to-head has been dominated by the German and I don’t expect it to change.

Prediction: Hanfmann in 2
