There is a great schedule for day three of the ATP Stockholm Open, with six matches set to be played. We here at LWOT are offering our previews and predictions for every match on the slate, including Holger Rune vs Miomir Kecmanovic. But who will advance in the Swedish capital?
ATP Stockholm Day 3 Predictions
Thiago Seyboth Wild vs Roman Safiullin
Head-to-head: Seyboth Wild 1-0 Safiullin
Roman Safiullin’s achievements on hard courts are far superior to his opponent. All seven of Thiago Seyboth Wild’s finals on the Challenger Tour have come on clay. In addition, the Brazilian’s only wins at Grand Slam level were on the clay at the French Open, though that does include a memorable win against 2021 US Open champion Daniil Medvedev.
However, Seyboth Wild beat Safiullin in their only previous meeting, and this was on the hard courts in Zagreb. Nonetheless, Safiullin is still given the edge in this ATP Stockholm Open clash. This is Seyboth Wild’s first tournament in over a month, while Safiullin reached the final in Chengdu just a few weeks ago. The Russian’s level can be inconsistent at times, but he should progress if he plays near his best.
Prediction: Safiullin in 3

Laslo Djere vs J.J. Wolf
Head-to-head: first meeting
Laslo Djere is a much improved player on hard courts compared with the earlier years of his career. This was clearly shown during his epic five-set battle with Novak Djokovic at this year’s US Open. Yet J.J. Wolf probably has the advantage in this matchup. He has been playing very well recently and continued that trend with an impressive straight sets win against Sebastian Baez in the first-round at the ATP Stockholm Open.
The fast conditions in Stockholm also suit Wolf’s style of play. By contrast, Djere prefers extra time on his groundstrokes. Wolf’s flat groundstrokes are likely to leave the Serbian feeling rushed throughout this contest. Djere will need to be clinical when he gets chances on Wolf’s serve if he is to avoid defeat in Stockholm.
Prediction: Wolf in 3

Gael Monfils vs Marton Fucsovics
Head-to-head: Monfils 2-0 Fucsovics
It has been nearly four years since these two last played. This makes the Frenchman’s head-to-head advantage somewhat meaningless. Aside from a few matches at the Laver Cup, this is Gael Monfils’ first match since the US Open. Therefore, rustiness could be an issue for the 37-year-old. Marton Fucsovics, by way of contrast, came close to reaching the round of 16 at the Shanghai Masters and is playing some of the best tennis of his career this year.
He has also beaten Sebastian Korda and Felix Auger-Aliassime this season. Monfils is still capable of using his superior skills to overcome the Hungarian. However, returning to such fast conditions and an in-form opponent could be too big an obstacle for Monfils. Fucsovics to win in three sets at the ATP Stockholm Open.
Prediction: Fucsovics in 3
