WTA Jiangxi Open Day 1 Predictions Including Camila Osorio vs Ma Ye-Xin

Camila Osorio in action ahead of the WTA Jiangxi Open.

First-round action at the WTA Jiangxi Open gets underway with six matches on schedule on Monday. There will be plenty of home interest with four Chinese players taking centre stage. As always, we here at LWOT have every match covered in our daily prediction articles including Diana Shnaider vs Zhu Lin. But who will advance?

WTA Jiangxi Open Day 1 Predictions

Vera Zonvareva vs Ariane Hartono

Head-to-head: first meeting

Vera Zvonareva has turned back the clock in the second half of the season and with some eye-catching results, and even truncating her ranking from four digits at the start of the season. She soared to a quarterfinal in Ningbo and the round of 16 in Zhengzhou, managing the upset of Top 20 player Veronika Kudermetova in the latter. Ariane Hartono was equally in fine form at the start of the Asian swing, reaching two quarterfinals in Japan. This will be a real tussle and the 12-year age gap could benefit the younger player.

Prediction: Hartono in 3

Jiang Xinyu vs Sara Sorribes Tormo

Head-to-head: first meeting

Spain will bank on the experience of Sara Sorribes Tormo at next month’s Billie Jean King Cup Finals on home soil. And her recent spell of good results on hard courts couldn’t have been timely. Jiang Xinyu is ranked outside the world’s Top 500 with modest results in the lower tiers. This should be a routine win in the books for the eighth-seeded Sorribes Tormo.

Camila Osorio vs Ma Ye-Xin

Head-to-head: first meeting

Camila Osorio has been extremely unlucky, picking up injuries right at the height of a career resurgence. It happened twice this year, but the Colombian’s main objective for the season was to rejoin the Top 100.  She hasn’t won a match in precisely a month, which only adds to the pressure coming up against a home player in Ma Ye-Xin. But Osorio should have too much quality and nous to even make a mess of this matchup.

Prediction: Osorio in 2
