The 2023 Atlanta Open has provided its fans with terrific tennis all week. Now that the weekend has arrived, we are down to four semifinalists; all two wins away from raising this 250-level crown. No. 1 seed Taylor Fritz takes on No. 8 seed J.J. Wolf in an all-American semifinal bout. The evening semifinal with take place between No. 7 seed Ugo Humbert and Aleksandar Vukic. We at LWOT have the preview and prediction for both ATP Atlanta semifinal matchups. But who will advance to Sunday’s final?

ATP Atlanta Semifinal Predictions

Ugo Humbert vs Aleksandar Vukic

Head-to-Head: first meeting

No. 7 seed Ugo Humbert takes on Aleksandar Vukic with a spot in the Atlanta Open final on the line. Humbert played a terrific match to best Alex de Minaur 7-6 6-3 in the quarters. He has won five of his last six matches. Vukic is coming off wins over No. 4 seed Yoshihito Nishioka and No. 5 seed Christopher Eubanks. The 27-year-old Aussie holds a career-high ranking of world No. 74 and is one win away from his first ATP final appearance. Vukic has a solid baseline game off both wings but does not have a weapon that will trouble the Frenchman. Humbert’s form should lead him to a straight-set victory.

Prediction: Humbert in 2

Taylor Fritz vs J.J. Wolf

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Americans Taylor Fritz and J.J. Wolf will square off with a spot in the Atlanta Open final on the line. This will be their first meeting despite only a 14-month age difference. Neither player has dropped a set en route to this semifinal encounter, setting up the Atlanta fans for a high-level bout. If Fritz can serve as he did in his previous two matches (17 aces, 0 double faults), he will be nearly impossible to beat. That said, Wolf is strong on return and should force the No. 1 seed to win his fair share of baseline exchanges. I see Wolf pushing Fritz, but Fritz’s power and first-strike tennis will prove to be too much in the end,

Prediction: Fritz in 3
