ATP Gstaad Semifinals Predictions Including Miomir Kecmanovic vs Albert Ramos-Vinolas

Miomir Kecmanovic in action ahead of the ATP Lyon Open.

The semifinal round of the ATP 250 event in Gstaad presents an outstanding opportunity for all four players involved. None of the four men have won an ATP title this season, but that will change for one of the,. This year’s Estoril Open finalist Miomir Kecmanovic is one of those in action. Which two players do you think will progress to the final?

ATP Gstaad Semifinals Predictions

Pedro Cachin vs Hamad Medjedovic

Head-to-head: first meeting

Both these players have defied the odds to make it to this stage. Cachin is ranked inside the Top 100 but the 28-year-old has never reached an ATP final in his career. The Argentine has suddenly produced some of the best tennis of his career this week. Medjedovic is an even bigger surprise. The Serbian was barely ranked inside the Top 200 before this tournament began but the 20-year-old has unleashed some incredible shot making to reach the semifinals. This is a hard one to call. There may be slightly more pressure on the older Cachin as he may wonder how many chances like this he will get in future. I am edging slightly towards Medjedovic. He has been playing with so much freedom, and I think that will make this great week into a special one for him.
Prediction: Medjedovic in 3

Miomir Kecmanovic vs Albert Ramos-Vinolas

Head-to-head: Ramos-Vinolas 1-0 Kecmanovic

The run to the semifinals will be particularly welcome for the veteran Ramos-Vinolas. He had been having a pretty woeful season, and the 35 year-old may have been wondering if his days were numbered on the ATP tour. The second seed, Kecmanovic, will have had higher hopes of a deep run and he has succeeded.

Both players have quite similar playing styles, with each seeking to bring their forehand into play at every opportunity. I think Kecmanovic will reach his second final this season. His Spanish opponent is a gritty competitor, but the younger Kecmanovic should be able to use his slightly superior movement to his advantage to use his forehand more consistently to win.
Prediction: Kecmanovic in 2
