ATP Geneva Open Final Prediction – Nicolas Jarry vs Grigor Dimitrov

Grigor Dimitrov in action ahead of the ATP Geneva Open.

After a week of entertaining action, two men are still left standing. Both men have plenty to play for, not least the chance to build some valuable momentum ahead of the French Open. As always, we here at LWOT are offering our prediction for the final, as well as Francisco Cerundolo’s clash with Arthur Fils in Lyon. But will it be Grigor Dimitrov or Nicolas Jarry who lifts the title in Geneva?

ATP Geneva Open Final Prediction

Grigor Dimitrov vs Nicolas Jarry

Head-to-head: Dimitrov 1-0 Jarry

Dimtrov made a slow start  in the semifinals against Taylor Fritz. The Bulgarian made too many errors and Fritz was frankly looking too good for the former-world #3 as he raced to a 4-0 lead in about twenty minutes. But Dimitrov slowly found his rhythm and built on it, adding an extra push in the third set. As Dimitrov started taking control, he shortened the points to good effect, playing the sort of attacking tennis that brings the best out of his game.

The hard-hitting Chilean Jarry continued his giant killing run at the ATP Geneva Open as he ousted third seed Alexander Zverev in straight sets. Jarry came into the semifinal after an exhausting quarterfinal match against first seed Casper Ruud which lasted two and a half hours. But he still managed to bring his ‘A’ game when he needed it, and will hope to do so again in the final. If Jarry wins the final, he will rise to a career-high ranking.

Jarry’s combination of power and court-coverage makes him a formidable opponent on the clay when he is at his best. He also has a very consistent serve which, despite not being one of the biggest on the tour is very effective when he is on song. The pair have met once before at the ATP Barcelona Open in 2019. Jarry got the better of Dimitrov there, albeit in a close match. Looking at how close in level the two players are, the match should be close, but Jarry has probably been the better player this week. Expect him to have the edge.

Prediction: Jarry in 3
