ATP Geneva Day 2 Predictions Including Alexander Bublik vs Marcos Giron

Alexander Bublik ahead of ATP Indian Wells

After the opening Sunday, ATP Geneva continues its first-round action on Monday, one of the final tune-up opportunities for players heading to Roland Garros. As always, we here at LWOT will preview and predict every match.

ATP Geneva Day 2 Predictions

Adrian Mannarino vs Filip Krajinovic

Head-to-head: Krajinovic 1-0

Mannarino had a strong showing in the Sunshine Double, beating Dominic Thiem and Lorenzo Musetti in Indian Wells before taking out Ben Shelton and Hubert Hurkacz to reach the fourth round in Miami. The Frenchman has failed to bring that form to clay as usual though, 1-6 on the season and 2-22 since 2020 on the red dirt. Krajinovic has also largely struggled, making the semifinals at Prague Challenger but is 1-6 on clay outside of that run. The Serb’s game is more suited to clay though and 11 years after beating Mannarino 6-1 6-0 in the 2012 Rome Challenger I believe he will deal yet another blow.

Prediction: Krajinovic in 2

Roberto Carballes Baena vs Daniel Rincon

Head-to-head: Carballes Baena 1-0 Rincon

After struggling through the Golden Swing and the first three months of the season in general, Carballes Baena won his second ATP title in Marrakech. The Spanish veteran also reached the third round in Rome. Facing him will be 2021 US Open Junior champion Daniel Rincon. The 20-year-old has recently entered the Top 300 and performed very well in qualifying, ousting Salvatore Caruso and Thiago Monteiro in three sets. Rincon could provide an interesting challenge but Carballes Baena’s experience should see him through.

Prediction: Carballes Baena in 2

Alexander Bublik vs Marcos Giron

Head-to-head: Bublik 1-1 Giron

Clay is Bublik’s worst surface but the Kazakh has managed to find some success, pushing Holger Rune all the way in Madrid and Casper Ruud in Rome, getting four wins in between albeit against weaker competition. Giron is 3-4 on clay, most recently taking losses to Sebastian Baez and Roman Safiullin. The American beat Bublik in Rome last year, avenging his Cincinnati loss from their first meeting. This will be their third time meeting in the first round.

Prediction: Bublik in 3
