ATP Dallas Quarterfinal Predictions Including Frances Tiafoe vs J.J. Wolf

Frances Tiafoe 2022 US Open

We are down to eight at the ATP Dallas Open as five Americans are still alive, looking to bring home the first title of the season on United States soil. Six of the top eight seeds remain in the field, setting up many intriguing quarterfinal matchups. Compatriots Frances Tiafoe and J.J. Wolf are on the brink of their first semifinal of the season. But who will advance?

ATP Dallas Quarterfinal Predictions

Taylor Fritz vs Marcos Giron

Head-to-Head: Fritz 4-1 Giron

Americans Taylor Fritz and Marcos Giron are set to square off in the Dallas Open quarterfinals for the second consecutive year. Last year Giron was able to upset Fritz 6-4 3-6 7-6. I believe Fritz will come poised and ready to avenge that loss. Fritz is a player looking to continue to climb the rankings, and the 250 ranking points available in this relatively open draw will be enticing. Fritz was able to hit ten aces in his win over Jack Sock. He should be able to serve his way by Giron as well.
Prediction: Fritz in 2

John Isner vs Emilio Gomez

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Hometown hero John Isner has looked confident in his two wins in Dallas. Isner is yet to drop a set and has dominated the three tiebreaks he has played in. While his returning ability is declining, he still possesses one of the best serves in the game. Isner will take on veteran Ecuadorian Emilio Gomez with a spot in the Dallas Open semifinals on the line. Gomez looked very impressive in the final two sets of his Round of 16 victory over Miomir Kecmanovic. That said, this is his first career Tour-level quarterfinal. For reference, this will be Isner’s 101st quarterfinal. The big-serving American will play the inevitable tiebreaks with confidence and handle Gomez in straight sets.
Prediction: Isner in 2

Adrian Mannarino vs Yibing Wu

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Yibing Wu has arrived. After a two-year professional tennis hiatus due to injury, Wu returned in 2022 and dominated the Challenger tour. He has now set his sights on Tour-level events and has passed the test. Wu is coming off a straight-set victory over Denis Shapovalov, the best of his career. He is brimming with confidence, and rightfully so. Wu faces an intriguing quarterfinal test against veteran Frenchman Adrian Mannarino. The 34-year-old has not dropped a set in his last three matches. When playing confidently, he is a tough player to puncture. While I certainly believe Wu can win this match, I believe Mannarino’s current form will be too tough in the end.
Prediction: Mannarino in 3

Frances Tiafoe vs J.J. Wolf

Head-to-Head: Tiafoe 1-0 Wolf

Americans Frances Tiafoe and J.J. Wolf are set to put on a show for the fans in Dallas. Both players currently hold career-high rankings, Tiafoe at No. 14 and Wolf at No. 43. Tiafoe holds an 8-1 record this season, and Wolf is 6-2. Something must give. While Wolf has powerful enough groundstrokes to puncture his compatriot, the consistency and variety of Tiafoe’s game is hard to ignore. I believe Tiafoe’s newfound serving prowess leads him to victory.
Prediction: Tiafoe in 3
